Ours is a distinctively Canadian IPA that combines the citrus and floral hop aroma of American IPA's with the sweetness, body and finish of British-style India Pale Ales, favouring a good hoppy flavour over bitterness. It delivers the body you expect from India Pale Ale, without making a spectacle of itself. Pour the boar down the side of your glass to avoid too creamy a head – a finger's width is bang on.

Pours straight copper, very clean, minimal head, moderate lacing. Smells sickly sweet, nothing but malts here. Alcohol for the most part. Upon the tongue, it’s a typical English IPA. Nothing memorable here at all. I get that these are still a thing, but someone needs to modernize this style. It just feels dated and I can’t imagine you can get excited about brewing this.

A very mild beer. Pours a muddy amber with a head considerably thicker than the Amber. Smell-wise, not much to write home about - floral, didn't notice much else. Tasted, as mentioned, unexpectedly light on the hops with little aftertaste. More caramelly than bitter.

After trying Sleeman Pier Point IPA, this was a real disappointment. It's heavy and bitter with no typical hoppy citrus overtone of an IPA. Sad because many of the Waterloo offerings are very good. Won't try another.

My local, in-person trader @tone77 was on a recent excursion into CANada & he brought back a number of CANadian CANned beers for me for inclusion in The CANQuest (tm)! I ran through a LOT of them on CANada Day & now, I am returning to polish off the remainder.

From the CAN: "Ontario's First Craft Brewer"; "Premium Beer"; "Since its first appearance on our award-winning Dark Lager, the mysterious wild boar has represented the stubborn pride we take in brewing our beer. Homegrown, handcrafted and without compromise. Pour the boar!"; "Four Simple Ingredients".

I like that they are referring to this as a CANadian English IPA. It leaves a bit of latitude for interpretation while also potentially keeping my hophead self happy. I was dissatisfied with their advice on how to CANduct my Glug & so I proceeded with my usual slow, gentle, C-Line Glug that produced two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention. Take that, Wonder Warthog! Color was Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was quite floral, like taking a hop cone in your hands & rubbing it, but at the same time, it had a woody maltiness, like floor malt, not sweet, but quite woody. Mouthfeel was unexpectedly creamy, the seCANd time that I have been surprised by the mouthfeel in one of their beers. Are they using soft water or do they have a secret water softener that is causing this? I kid you not! Here in Lancaster Co., PA, we have extremely hard water & even with softening, it still leads to beers with a solid mouthfeel. This, OTOH, was soft & creamy, caressing my tongue with its presence. The taste was more hoppy & bitter than malty, just the opposite of the style's guidelines. That is part of the problem when reviewing to style & not to taste - reserve the "Overall" score for your opinion so as not to badly hurt a beer's scores. Personally, I was digging this! I generally find EIPAs to be too sweet & I am long over Tropical AIPAs so this struck a really nice balance between the more traditional renditions of both EIPAs & AIPAs. It beCAN with a pine mintiness but was balanced by a woody maltiness that was less sweet than I normally enCANter. I have a friend who totally eschews AIPAs due to their bitterness, but I would be curious (Green) to see what he might think of this beer. I found it really mellow overall, like hop tea. Finish was semi-dry to dry, but very, very mellow. Man, this was like being rocked to sleep like a baby! I would drink this more often if it made it down my way. YMMV.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very mild, a touch of malts. Taste is of caramel malts up front, light hops in the background. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall it's not overly hoppy, but it's a decent beer.

Possibly a more mainstream beer t han I have been drinking, I found it lacking in character and flavour. Okay, but not one I would run out to purchase again.

Can from brewery...decants a clear gold beer with a smallish white cap....light aroma mostly malt with a light floral grassiness....sturdy malt spine, clean drinkable character....big malt rush in front is joined by a decent hop bittering balance.....clean quick finish....this is much like the retro commercial Canadian "ales" like Red cap or Dow,...has a bit more gravity and hopping that's all.

Pours an almost amber gold with three finger head, some decent retention.

Smell is malty, very malty. I get nothing else.

Taste is malt forward,to the detriment of the beer. There is a hoppy bitterness at the end but it's not strong.

Feel is medium with medium carbonation. Finish is wet.

Well, my Mom taught me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. So I'll leave it at that.
