fruity and tart but not distinctly cherry, although tart cherry is at work somewhat. Bottled July 2014 so I don't know if that makes a difference. Soft funk.
Initially had an inch or so head of off white but that settled out in good order. Quite cloudy as I poured the whole bottle in one large glass. A fair amount of stuff floating around in the glass too. Not the most attractive beer. :0)
Definitely got some cherry right up front that was kinda' sweet, but the tartness, general fruitiness immediately came forth. Mild drying on the finish, but it does not dominate, as the tartness lingers too carrying the fruit flavors with it. The cherry hasn't completely faded out as it hangs in there just a little bit.
There is both a slickness and a smoothness to the feel that along with the prickly carbonation makes a most interesting feel. I like it, but it is not typical.
As with all of these from Schell's I enjoy them. The base flavors seem amazingly consistent and fortunately I enjoy them. Glad these are around.

Poured from a 750 ml corked bottle into a tall New Glarus Signature Pilsner Glass. Bottled in July of 2014.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy brownish amber with a lot of rising bubbles. About one finger of off white head that quickly fades away.

Smell: A sweet, sour, and funky wheat driven aroma with big hints of cherries. Wheat and pale malt with hints of caramel, grains, straw, cracker, and yeast. Big scent of tart cherries along with some hints of apple and other berries. Funky scent from the bacteria. Also some hints of wood and oak come through. A really nice aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a sour, sweet, and funky wheat driven taste with lots of cherries. Wheat and soft malt notes with some straw, grains, caramel, yeast, and cracker. Big presence of tart and sweet cherries as well as some light apple and berries. The bacteria adds a funky kick to the fruit. Aging notes of wood and oak come through. A really solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a high level of carbonation. Tart and juicy with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: Another very good wheat beer in this series. Good taste of cherries and funk with a nice balanced sweetness.

Cheers Ry-bro!!

Pours amber-brown, finger of white head. Tons of bright, sour dark cherry on the nose with a little sweet wheat.
Nice medium sourness, tart cherry, a bit of nice wheat, maybe a touch of malty caramel. Medium body, medium-low carbonation.

Great stuff.

Has a big cherry nose with a trace of tartness. It pours brilliant effervescent cherry red with a quickly dissipating 1” white foam cap. Big cherry flavors dominate the palate with lemon in the background and very faint grain flavors. It finishes tart and dry. It is a very refreshing, light and drinkable beer. Not syrup or cloying in anyway.
