Bottled 4/15, enjoyed 6/15:

Head is rather short-lived compared to the others in the series, but shows the color of the fruit well, as does the body. Clarity is minimal... murky apricot orange with a hint of legging.

The nose screams peaches: soft, fuzzy, overripe peaches. There's nothing explicitly tart or sour in the aroma. I'm drinking this outside and the gnats and bumblebees seem equally intrigued. I suppose that's a good sign.

There's a lot more complexity on the palate. The peach is still glaringly obvious but, in addition to that, there's that wonderful pineapple quality that came with the starkbier. What I think is interesting is that there is a tartness on the finish that tastes like young fruit, but also a funky overripe fleshy bit that creates a whole other set of flavors. The consistency is creamy... much more so than you would ever anticipate, judging by its appearance.

I am a huge fan of this beer, right out of the gate. I'd say that I actually prefer it to Framboise du Nord, which is saying a lot.

750ml brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Fizzy pour, head vanishes. Muddled amber tan color, looks pretty ugly. Smells like a ripe peach tree with some fallen fruit, tartness with skin to pit aromas. Deep smoothness, very tart with a fresh peach pulp flavor throughout. Mouthfeel is a bit heavy, was expecting dryness. Wood tannin. Kiss of sweetness within, more tartness and linger peach flavor in the finish.

poured 750ml into teku.

A - Peach peel orange and very cloudy with a 2.5 finger off white head. Fades into a thin ring with no lacing.

S - Fresh peach puree blended in a Berliner Weiss. Some lemon notes with a light musty funk from the fermented wheat and cypress tank aging process.

T - Excellent peach flavor on an awesome Berliner style beer. Notes of lemon acidity and a strong tartness. Not as much funk as the nose would indicate, but enough to make it interesting.

M - Light bodied and big carbonation makes for a fantastic mouthfeel.

O - I need this every summer and would gladly pay the steep price for a bottle or two. I know these are only going to be brewed once, but maybe Schells would consider making it again.

Hazy bright golden Orange. Beautiful.

Gerber baby peach food. Not overly sour or tart. Just right. Peach and apricot flavor are fresh and spot on. A little bit of lemon acidity, but overall very clean.

Smooth and clean. Easy drinking. Ends clean.

I know I mentioned clean a lot, but this beer really is for a sour. One of the most approachable and drinkable sours. Very well done.

Syrupy. Interesting peach flavor; reminiscent of peach concentrate and or puree. Real/whole peaches don't throw this much peach.

Way too sweet of a beer if it was fermented by lacto and brett (makes me think concentrate was used). Also, this sweetness negates any lactic qualities this beer has.

Head, after beer was poured was peach colored, which doesn't happen from whole peaches, but does with concentrate.

Also, band-aid on the nose and flavor breaks down into it as well, in the aftertaste. Again, portending concentrate was used.

Deduction:

Concentrate was used (and not well), but not stated.

Murky orange juice color with a small head that quickly faded. Not much lacing is left on the glass. Aroma reminiscent of peach puree and some pineapple which I find a bit odd. Flavor is a disappointment compared to other in the series. Very little brett funk and lacto notes. Some mild acidity to go along with the sweet peach flavor. Flavor just does not pop and seems timid. Not as bretty as Cypress and not as lacto as SotN. I expected the carbonation to be a little livelier. Still feels light and crisp. Did not live up to the hype that started to develop around this beer and not as good as the other fruited versions of the series. People are getting a little carried away me thinks.

Try this one is part of a peach tasting and it came in 2nd of 4 only being bested by Peche & Brett which was a little more complex and just straight up legendary...however this one blew away many others I did not think it would… It's straight up smelled and tasted like you're biting into a fresh peach!!

Thanks Andrew for this tasty brew!

Super hot day and the very first chance I have at beer in the last few weeks. I think it looks pretty good. Murky dark yellow. Smells good, lots of overripe fruit, slight funk and some sourness. Taste fallows suit with a bit more Berliner sour. Fruit in full swing nice sourness and sweatiness

I've had a few peach sours latly. I'd say this stacks slightly ahead of sitr with peaches but right behind upland peach

Juicy and delicious! Best sour frm MN for sure!

Thanks to rudzud for sharing this.

Bottled April 2015

Light creamy fizzy head, murky solid color peach orange color.

Nose is just explosion of peach, stone fruit city, peach apricot everywhere, not much else, just stone fruit peach and apricot.

Taste is again loaded with peach, tart juicy sour like stone fruit, apricot, tangy notes, lots of peach, some of the base Berliner wheat creamy tangy, mild acidity, juicy fruit with the peach. Finish is drier, nice mild bitter note and tangy acidity, great peach and sour creamy wheat.

Mouth is med bod, nice creamy, nice carb, light acidity.

Overall great peach, stone fruit, mild acidity, a bit of the base beer coming through, quite nice.

Truly nothing I can criticize. Ripe peach smell, thick lively presecnce, slightly sour peach tang. This may be the greatest beer I've yet tasted.

Thanks to egrace84 for gifting this beer to me!

Orange murky colored beer with white head that is full of fine bubbles and has decent retention. Nose is peach puree, it is fruit forward and smells exactly like peaches. Taste is exactly the same. Peaches, Peaches, and even more peaches for days that taste exactly like the fruit. Mouthfeel is low end of medium bodied beer with almost moderate carbonation. No booze at all in this beer. Overall, this beer is more of a fruit beer and not much here concerning a fruited berlinner weisse. ABV is too high to call this a berlinner and you get no yogert/lacto funk or tartness like all berlinner should have. I would have this again for sure, it would have gotten a higher score if the beer was true to the berlinner weisse style. Also worthy of a mention is that this is probably the best beer that I have drank from August Schell.

I've sampled two bottles and noticed some variation between the two. The first was very dry and tart with minimal residue at the final pour. The second bottle had noticeably more fruit pulp and was slightly sweeter and more peachy. Can't really say I preferred one over the other - it would depend on my mood at the time. In any case, an excellent beer.

April 2015 bottling poured into a tulip. The brew really looks like muddy peach juice with a yellowish head thats quick to fade.

The aroma is juicy with peach/apricot flesh somewhat pitted and so fresh smelling. Some mild oak and grain mixing with faint yogurt appeal.

This tastes tart and fruity with a lot of peach/apricot pulp. Some mild oak and bretty earthiness overtop a mild lactic lemony feel.

This is light in body with modest carbonation. A super easy drinking brew. I hesitate to compare this to a very popular apricot sour beer but in all honesty, this had some serious familiarity to it. Id certainly drink this again. Great stuff.

Shared with JLindros. Received in a trade, reviewed from notes.

A - Poured into a standard tulip a peach juice hue with a thin head that fades quickly to nothing. Wonderful color.

S - Aromas of super peaches. Glorious peach skin and flesh, juicy, lightly tart.

T - Taste is phenomenal, loads of peaches, super juicy peach juice, lightly sweet, faint acidity. Really, really nice creamy wheat as well. Absolutely delicious, unfathomably peachy.

M - Mouthfeel is brightly carbonated, crisp, clean.

O - this beer was excellent mind blowing peaches. Holy cow.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle.

A: Pours deep rich hazy orange peach color with two fingers of white head that dissipates rather quickly. Lacing is nearly non-existent.

S: Peach, apricot, lemon, wheat, and a distinct funkiness.

T: Peach, apricot, lemony citrus, and a little bit of that unique funk. Great blend of sweet and tart. I could literally drink this everyday, honestly I wish I could.

M: Light bodied, highly carbonated, creamy and tart.

O: Truly fantastic. If you like peaches then this is definitely for you. This brew came highly recommended by one of my costumers and I am very glad I picked one up. I hope this is one they eventually brew again because I see myself craving this. If it was readily available I would always have some on hand.

This beer looks awful and tastes and smells of artificial peach flavoring. I've never come across a 7.2 abv Berliner either. Not a fan.

L - Very beautiful looking beer. Head dissipates quickly.

S - It smells like mild/tart Gerber baby food with a hint of funk and some lemon/ citrus notes.

T- Taste is tart peach with a hint of sweetness and some sour notes. A little bit of funk as well.

F - Nice mouthfeel, very clean.

O - A great fruit beer that is also an approachable sour. I can drink this all day in the middle of a warm summer. Great beer!

Pours a slighty turbid orange in color, topped with an off-white head.

Big, fruity and tangy nose. Spicy and phenolic.

On the first sip this is SOUR and bracing. Sour/bitter peach pith and flesh right away, with just a bit of sweetness kicking it into gear about midway through. Apricot notes (peach an apricot are a great compliment to one another, by the way) on the backend of the palate.

Lingering bittersweet/sour profile coats the tongue and palate.

The sour character is definitely the focal point of course, and for myself and for others* it was all but overwhelming once the initial fruit character had played-out across the tongue and palate. Any novice to the newly-dominant (okay, I.P.A. still rools all) current in the Craft Beer segment to brew sours will be challenged by this one, especially as it is rather strong as well -- 7.2%.

Good carbonation and a decent overall mouthfeel, so rather dangerously drinkable as a chilled offering on a hot Friday evening.

To be honest sour beers are not my thing in the least, but this one is worth a try, and I should like to get at least one more bottle to lay-down, and perhaps even one more to send to a friend in a far-off land. So yeah, ultimately even though this is not my metaphorical 'cup of tea', it is very good for what it is,

* Fact is I sampled it out amongst a group of about eight people, and drank maybe half a bottle altogether. It was quite the experience. :)
