This full-bodied, blond dopple bock has a rich, assertive maltiness with a slight, but unique sweetness balanced by a moderate hop bitterness and a citrusy hop aroma.

This beer pours a deep gold with an average head. The aroma starts with a kick of floral hops, and then sweet biscuit malts and quick bread. The flavor has a lot more biscuit malt, even some sweeter malt flavors, like waffled, with syrupy sweetness, lots of floral qualities, and a hint of baking spice. The mouthfeel is quite full with very minor carbonation. Oversll this is a bit sweet without corresponding balance for me.

Schell's knows German-style lagers. Bready aroma, a little spice and earthiness. Attractive amber color with a moderate level of rising carbonation bubbles. Topped with a tall, bubbly, creamy off-white head leaving lots of lacing as it recedes. Substantial feel, moderately thick. Bready taste with a nice balance of earthy grassy spiciness. Some caramel comes through in the middle and finish offering just the right touch of malty sweetness. Very slight bittering in the clean finish.

Light amber with moderate carbonation, a quickly dissolving half finger of white head, and mild lacing down the glass. The aroma is a little astringent (Simcoe in this?), but, with some fresh baked bread, a honey floral sweetness, and some citrus in the background, all is forgiven. The flavor is bready, caramel sweetness, honey or floral, and minor grapefruit rind way in the back of the palate, and none of that astringent/catty note. Feel is medium body, medium full carbonation, and quite dry but very slightly sticky at the same time. There is a nice blend of bitter to sweet with this beer, with them both lingering on the palate for a while. Pretty nice brew, the honey quality stands out nicely.

Maifest pours a copper color with a big lacing head. Mellow but sweet aroma. Taste is sweet and crisp, but has a skunk finish. Nice body and feel. Overall its a decent beer, some potential but the bitter skunk flavors at the end hurt this beer.

More like an imperial Pilsner, but I like this beer. Malty and hoppy...but tastes like many others. Perhaps arbitrarily called a maibock to justify the high ABV.

12 ounce bottle poured into a seidel.

A- Golden copper color. Excellent clarity. Sudsy white head. Persistent lacing and carbonation throughout. 5

S- Malty, apple, honey, bread, earthy and grassy hops. Somewhat light on the aroma but still nice. 3.75

T- Pretty consistent with the nose although there's much more of a spicy hop feel and flavor than the nose. Still bready and the apple has made an exit. Each sip finishes with a equivalent combination of bready sweet malt and earthy, grassy, spicy hop. A honey flavor makes an entrance on the lingering finish. My only qualms with this flavor are the delay in the malt making its arrival. The entrance is a little light on flavor before finally breaking with the sweet malt. Other than that, great. 3.75

M- Very satisfying and refreshing here. Light and drinkable but still full in the mouth, well-carbonated, and has some earthy, grassy and spicy qualities from the hops. The finish lingers long with dryness, hop bitterness and a tinge of honey sweetness. 4

I am a bit on the fence as to what style I think this is. The name of the beer makes me think maibock. Or with the fest, maybe it's a marzen. Maybe it's both. Drinking it, it seems lighter than a maibock but has enough hops flavor and feel to be such. I have to assume it's a hybrid but I'm no expert. Either way, good stuff.
