Style: Gose

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Schell's Goosetown is our interpretation of a traditional, German-style Gose. The beer pours clear, golden orange in color, with a thick white foam head. It has a bright lemon zest and coriander aroma with a slight saltiness reminiscent of a cool ocean breeze. A refreshingly light and citrusy tartness greets your palate, backed by a bready, wheat malt character and a touch of coriander spice. Lighter bodied, yet full flavored with a lively carbonation that gives the beer a crisp, dry finish. A uniquely refreshing session beer, perfectly suited for a warm summer day from the August Schell Brewing Company.

My first gose. I poured This from a bottle into a clear teardrop glass. It pours a nice orange with a two finger white head. The taste is a bit sour and lightly hopped. It's a very unusual taste and I'm not blown away by it. It's not fruity, but more spicey. I will probably not seek it out.

A really unadventurous gose, as far as the style goes. Salt is very subdued, with the paleness really dominating.

label was pretty accurate. poured clear, orange, and with a good head. smell was a bit salty with some lemon tang. didn't get the tartness in the taste at all. mouth was thin and went down imperceptibly.

pretty tepid overall. not one i'd buy again.

Part of a sampler 12 pack. Worth trying but nothing special. These would be good for a hot summer day. Could session all day probably. "Theres 2 o's in Goose boys."

This beer pours a very clear, very pale straw. The aroma promising - biscuit and salt waft out powerfully. The flavor is very faint I taste the salt, and a tiny bit of biscuit malt, but little else. The mouthfeel is fizzy and thin. Overall, I am just not impressed by this beer. Would it do fine on a hot day? Sure, but I could find so many better options. Unless all you want is a weakly flavored beer with strong salt tones, I cannot see a good place for this beer.

Can dated 092214 at 42 degrees into snifter
Aroma of coriander and a weak sea breeze
Head small (two cm, aggressive pour), white, frothy, diminishing to irregular twoto four mm ring and partial layer
Lacing poor – few small islands of tiny to small bubbles
Body medium yellow, slight haze
Flavor weak, not detecting the coriander but a little salt coming through – not much flavor at all; no malt, no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
