Thanks, Nick!

Was psyched to get this from Nick on a recent trip to Colorado Springs. Pretty sure he picked it up the day I got it (Sept. 22). Enjoyed Strange Claw the night before, giving it a 3.90. Online, the description for this one was, “Brewed with both malted and flaked oats with immense amounts of Galaxy and a sprinkling of Amarillo.” Still not on the Galaxy train yet, but I do love me some Amarillo. Back of the can added Columbus. This should be interesting.

Poured a pale-to-gold hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy white head, similar to last night’s Strange Claw. More bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass than Strange Claw. Excellent layered spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled juice - orange, tangerine, grapefruit and pineapple - up front. I usually associate Amarillo with the orange family, so probably that leading the way for hops. Also Columbus (got that in Strange Claw too), but only a touch of Galaxy. Also orange blossom, orange creamscicle, lactose and hints of mango. Sugary orange in the can, probably some mango and guava too. (Smell - 4.00)

Hops came out to play in the taste, more balanced and noticeable than the nose. If I had to pick order I would say Amarillo, Columbus and Galaxy, but it seemed equally distributed. Also orange juice, tangerine peel, orange creamscicle, lactose, pineapple and boozy mango rind. Seems stronger than 6.8 pct. ABV. Think I got some oats late. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Bitter, dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This was a solid New England Style beer overall. Might have underrated it slightly. (Overall - 3.75)
