Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 1 pint can on September 19, 2019. Look is a dark orange color with a thick foamy head and lingering lacing. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit flavors.

This Cart Horse was pretty good, better than expected! So far there has always been something with the NEIPAs that I had, they were great, but...
When I first read about this type of beer, I had an idea about them and it seems like the ones I had in real just couldn’t quite live up to this expectation. Now with this beer, I think we might have gotten a bit closer.
Then thing is that I completely expected nothing and I could totally appreciate how juicy this beer was. Because it was all juice. It was a real hop juice. Nothing sort of any bitterness or citrus, tropics, no offence - but it was good as it was. Like a peach juice maybe?
The reason I liked it was because it was so balanced and easy to drink. I recommend this to every NEIPA fan to try it and judge it for themselves.

S: Tropical fruits, yeast.

T: Tropical fruits, hoppy, smooth. Delicious!

F: Light bodied, nicely flavored.

O: An extremely delicious NEIPA. Thumbs up!

Pours a hazy, deep golden amber coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smells of biscuity malt and juicy tropical and citrus notes of mango, passion fruit and grapefruit. Taste follows the nose, with some light biscuity malt, but dominated by hoppy and quite juicy tropical/citrus notes of mango, passion fruit and grapefruit, as well as a light herbal note. Finishes with a light bitterness and some tropical notes lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This is a nice NEIPA that's big on the juicyness, but a little one-dimensional in my opinion, except for some light herbal notes that at least prevent this from being a total juice bomb though. Also, the strong passion fruit presence adds a little acidity to this, plus there's a certain dryness and light bitterness to the finish, all preventing this from becoming too sweet.

My old neighbor and good friend from Oswego gave me a can of this. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had ripe citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical citrus presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Pours a rich and beautiful orange with a voluptuous white head that is very persistent and leaves an appealing lacing behind.
The smell explodes the moment you open the can, lots of lemon and grapefruit, candied peels and light notes of fresh ginger. Stupendously aromatic.
Taste has hot notes of ginger and grapefruit. Other nice citrus notes but not extremely complex. Nice and juicy, well in the vein of the hot new ipa flavors but nothing too mind blowing. Solidly in the orange juice camp.
Mouthfeel is nice, more like an older american ipa than the modern ones. Very crisp and fairly light on palate.
Overall this is a really nice ipa from a really nice modern ipa brewer. This is one you could easily return to often, sweet and juicy but still bitter enough to not cloy too badly.

Nice opaque yellow color, good head retention. Nose is tropical fruits, citrus, herbs and sugar underpin. Taste is tangerine, pineapple, lemon and lime, slight berry notes. Mouthfeel leans thicker. Overall, very nice. Orangey notes really set it apart for me.

Pours a matte dark dirty orange color. Thick frothy white head collapses leaving a thin layer of residual foam. Beer is completely opaque and sludgy in appearance.

Aroma is a pungent sweet aroma of mango, peach, papaya, orange and some piney hop notes all come through on the nose.

Taste follows the nose with notes of mango, peach papaya, and orange with some notes of grapefruit rinds and pine. Noticeable sweetness throughout. Nice pilsner malt backbone is noted providing some balance. Grassy piney bitterness on the back end with some spicy notes. The fruity flavors die on the palate rather quickly, but the bitterness lingers.

Feel is medium bodied with some viscosity. Prickly carbonation tingles the tongue. Occasionally I pick up a touch of burn in this, but its subtle.

Overall its a solid NE style IPA - well crafted, but it seems like its unable to decide if it wants to be more of a middle of the road NE style that maintains some bitterness or more of the juice bomb NE style.

Pours a cloudy, murky, darker orange color with two fat fingers of airy antique white head. The head is relatively short lived and leaves modest, spotty lacing.

Orange, cream, pine and herbs in the nose.

There’s some orange juice in the taste, but it’s quickly cut by a dull herbal bitterness that gives way to some mint in the finish. There’s some light mineral water in there, too.

Medium bodied and creamy feel with slow-building carbonation cutting through.

The herbal bitterness in this one keeps it very drinkable. It’s not a juice bomb or particularly sweet at all for the sub-style. Very enjoyable. 10/11/18 canned on date.

Can poured into a goblet. Very minimal white head which does not leave a large amount of lacing on the glass. Scent is heavy pineapple. Pineapple puree and light mango in the taste. Very smooth with a slight amount of bitterness in the aftertaste. Easy drinker.

I lie this for its subtlety. A muddy orange look with very little carb. Mild citrus notes on the nose. Taste is juicy, citrusy, mild bitter undertones with a little zesty tanginess. Very mellow, mild, slight alcohol presence, easy sipper. Winner.

16 oz can dated 10/11/18 sent from drunkenmess. Poured into my Ploughshare (RIP) brewing wide-mouthed glass.

Really murky, deliciously hazy and juicy, brown-tinted-juice color with a tall creamy head of 2 fingers. Webbing sticks to the head as it recedes slowly.

A smile curls on my face as I inhale this beer. Gorgeous aromas of orange juice, lactose, pineapple sherbet, orange sherbet, and juicy grapefruit. Just a touch of evergreen.

Pretty dank, dirty, and mineral-esque to start, with large fading flavors of pine, grass, herbal, with hints of orange peel, orange sherbet, bitter berries, pepper (classic Ekuanot), lemon peel, and slight dill.

Feel is 1) carbonated, 2) acidic, 3), resinous, and 4) creamy - in that order of strength respectively. Medium bodied.

Overall, a very good NE style IPA that would really appeal to those who are growing tired of overly sweet juice bombs (personally I can never get enough of them). This is a fairly bitter example of the style, but still very good. Solid NE IPA.

Pint can dated Sep ?? 2018. Bought at Barrels & Vines.

Pour: thick, pulpy, hazy golden orange color. Thick, off-white, multi-finger head (I shook it a bit) that held in a few minutes. Slight clouds with minimal lacing.

Nose: subtle tropical fruits, grapefruit, some orange. A little pine.

Taste: very similar to the nose. Lots of grapefruit, orange, mango. Tangy hops. Less fruity than M-43, slightly less than Boss Tweed. Smoother tasting than Boss Tweed but slightly more bitter although the bitterness is still very muted.

Mouthfeel: thick, creamy, moderate carbonation.

Overall: might be my favorite Old Nation NEIPA although I need to drink a few more to be sure. Refreshing, but enough substance and complexity. Any of M-43, Boss Tweed or Cart Horse are great beers. The differences are subtle.

Definitely the winter version of M-43. This has an orange, citrus feel to it, with a smooth crisp finish. Something that worked well was the incorporation on it. Refreshing and a welcome change from a lot of winter ales and stouts, well worth the try.

16oz can from LambicPentameter. Canned 4/13/18. Served in an oversized Bruery snifter. Enjoyed 5/25/18.

Pours a flat, dull orange, completely opaque, with about a finger and a half of white froth. Minimal retention but there is a bit of lace where the head had rested.

Smells of vague melon, berry, pear and some faint bread. It’s a little more muted than the other New Orthodox IPAs I’ve had from Old Nation but still pleasant.

Mildly bitter flavors of orange pulp, berry seeds, faint melon, a hint of blueberry and some faint cookie.

Soft, medium body with moderate carbonation. Traces of orange, melon and berry remain in the mildly bitter aftertaste.

Old Nation has proven themselves quite adept at these NE style IPAs. For my tastes I may prefer their juicier options but Cart Horse is a tasty, easy drinking IPA.

1 PINT can
Served in an oversized, stemless, Michigan Wolverines, wine glass

This beer pours hazy AF and is brownish yellow in color. Oxidized? It is topped with about half a glass of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.

It smells good. I get tropical fruit and citrus.

The taste seems fine. I get tropical fruit up front that gives way to citrus with light pine in the finish.

Medium bodied with a little bit of a chalky mouthfeel

This is a good beer. I prefer M43. Luckily I have a few more cans to see if this one was as intended by the brewer. I will update if I find that this can was indeed oxidized.

L - 1.5 finger sparse offwhite head atop a deep, dark orange body.

S - grapefruit, pine, caramel, herb.

T - unusual. Grapefruit and orange are met with a ton of wheat. Spicy middle, with a little pepper. Pineapple, pine, hard candies. Moderate bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Low booziness.

F - medium-full body with average carb.

O - not at all what I was expecting. Does not taste like their other ipas, but it’s unique in a good way. Not usually a fan if wheaty ipas, but this is damn tasty and the best one I’ve yet tried.

Poured from a can dated 09/08/18 Thanks superspak.
Pours a deep, opaque, pureed apricot in color. White fluffy head rises, then retreats to a thin film with a slight fluffy white ring. Patchy lacing.
Smell is pure bliss. Peach, apricot, pineapple, juicy mango, and floral plumeria finish.
Taste is more tropical leaning and dry. Pineapple, grapefruit, papaya, with a slight onion note on the back end.
Mouthfeel is medium and the carbonation keeps everything alive. Slick finish with a gentle warmth.
Overall, a great NE IPA. The aromas are the absolute star.

Pours a very hazy, very murky orange color. The head is 2 finger, white, quite frothy, and great retention. There's some lacing on the glass.
The nose hit me when pouring. Citrus from the hops. Up close I get a mellow citrus aroma. It seems to be a grapefruit aroma to me. Maybe a bit of pineapple also,
Taste - It's juice. Pineapple, grapefruit, mango. Maybe just a slight pine flavor on the backside.
Body - full bodied, soft mouthfeel. It does dance on my tongue, and into the back of my throat.
I can see why it's so popular - it's damn delicious. Happy to get the chance to try it.

Opaque yellow-orange with a thin off-white blanket, Cart Horse exhibits less fruitiness than Boss Tweed, but is still a modern, NE IPA, bringing to mind Tired Hands, with a vanilla oat angle and a sort of banana-Orange Julius note via a frothy, medium body and very dry finish.

Appearance - Pours opaque burnt orange color with huge fluffy white head. Spotty lacing all around the glass.

Aroma - Pineapple, mango, overly ripe peach, pine, very little bit of grapefruit mostly sweet aroma with a touch of bitterness.

Taste - Taste follows the nose closely but much more pronounced. Pineapple, mango, peach, citrus peel, mosaic hops are very noticeable. A blast of sweet tropical fruit with a touch of bitterness to balance.

Feel - Full bodied creamy feel nice dry finish.

Overall - A very well done IPA great flavors alcohol is well hidden which is sometimes an issue with a sweet IPA like this.

Dull brown to copper in color with significant haziness. There's a quarter inch of off white to light beige creamy and frothy head on top. The aroma is of heavy citrus and pine. I'm tasting plenty of orange juice with just a touch of grassy hops playing a background note. The mouth is very resinous and mouth puckering.
