Pint can dated Sep ?? 2018. Bought at Barrels & Vines.

Pour: thick, pulpy, hazy golden orange color. Thick, off-white, multi-finger head (I shook it a bit) that held in a few minutes. Slight clouds with minimal lacing.

Nose: subtle tropical fruits, grapefruit, some orange. A little pine.

Taste: very similar to the nose. Lots of grapefruit, orange, mango. Tangy hops. Less fruity than M-43, slightly less than Boss Tweed. Smoother tasting than Boss Tweed but slightly more bitter although the bitterness is still very muted.

Mouthfeel: thick, creamy, moderate carbonation.

Overall: might be my favorite Old Nation NEIPA although I need to drink a few more to be sure. Refreshing, but enough substance and complexity. Any of M-43, Boss Tweed or Cart Horse are great beers. The differences are subtle.

16oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours a hazy dark orange color with a one-finger foamy white head that has great retention

S- lemon, melon and grapefruit hop notes, a bit resinous, underlying bready malt

T- big lemon notes up front, reminiscent of a lemoncello, followed by zesty grapefruit, ripe green melon and pithy tangerine. The finish gives more lemon, and grapefruit with a melon linger

M- meduim body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy finish

Cart Horse from Old Nation. Purchased 11/13/20 for $4 (Including tax) for 16 oz can ($ 0.25/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Reviewed 12/16/20.
On bottom of can “PKG ON 10/08/20”. In reefer at store at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Served at 53.2 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 56.8 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep gold (SRM 6), murky and opaque. When held to direct light, it lightens up a bit to a saffron yellow but is still opaque.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.2 cm, aggressive center pour), off white, medium density, average retention, diminishing to a ten to thirteen mm jagged crown with a thin, rocky cap. Many chunks or lacing remain as the head collapses. Second pour produces a tight 0.8 cm head.
Lacing – Very good. Multiple irregular bands of barely distinguishable extremely tiny bubbles to small bubbles, with the bands connected by columns of varying length and width.
Aroma –3.5 – Weak melony hops, a touch of malt, no yeast. Lasts but weakens still more.
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter with a little honey dew, a bit of raw malt appears in the aftertaste, no yeast. Ends the same with a marked bitterness hanging on my hard palate. No alcohol (7 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Medium, slightly creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4. A decent yet unremarkable NEIPA. The oats and wheat give it a heavier body than the average NEIPA.
