I bought this after months of staring at it. I love it. It goes up there with the better Double/Imperial Stouts. Solid. Typcial notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, etc. The nitro does the trick for the mouth-feel, very creamy. Almost milkshake like. The ABV definitely makes it a sipper, and for the $15 for a 4pk, that's just fine.

I'd recommend with a piece of cheesecake or a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Would probably go well with a steak and mushroom dinner too.

Cheers!

12oz bottle poured hard into pint glass.

Appearance: like with the BA Old Rasputin, this has that really cool effect with the tan head, with small bubbles near the black beer and big ones near the top. As the head dies down, there is some lacing along the side. Plenty of bubbles just hanging out on the side of the glass.

Smell: A little bit of chocolate, a little bit of sweetness. Not close to overpowering.

Taste: sweet, more like a milk stout. Some chocolate notes. For something that's over 10%, there's no alcohol taste to note.

Mouthfeel: a little sticky, thicker, full bodied.

Overall: pretty good for sure. Wasn't sure what to expect from this given the wide ranging reviews here. Glad I tried it.

A super smooth and rich Russian Imperial Stout. Nice nitrogen bubble action on the pour but the taste and mouthfeel really send this thing to the next level. A great beer that I will definitely buy again and again.

The bottle cap says keep cold, the label says serve at 50-60 degrees. I poured it cold and carefully, and didn't get much head. Then I let it sit in my tulip for half an hour to bring its temperature up a bit. It's a nice beer and I would agree with the advice on the label.
Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, and dark fruit.
Dark chocolate taste, a hint of sweetness, Some raisins.
Very smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol extremely well-hidden.

12 oz bottle poured into a Anchor Steam glass.Smell is a slight chocolate.Taste is a very thin chocolate with maybe a hint of coffee. Not an overly complex taste that you get with some of the best stouts like lets say Stone Russian Imperial.Very thin for a Stout. The IBV is good but something is just not there.Would not drink again. To many better Stouts out there.

Serving glass: Poured forcefully from nitro bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Jet black with lovely, tan, nitro head.

Smell: Dark fruits, molasses, chocolate and light coffee. Good aroma for a nitro beer.

Taste: Nice mix of dark fruits (such as figs), molasses, licorice, chocolate and coffee. The hops are kept to a minimum, but there is a slight bite on the finish from the roasted malts.

Feel: Silky and smooth without the standard carbonated feel. Lighter than most Imperial Stouts, but still some heft. Basically, it feels like a nitro beer.

Overall: Extremely impressive that Left Hand is able to make a Nitro Imperial Stout in a bottle. Really good stuff. I would love it if other brewers did this. Nitro Yeti? Nitro Ten Fidy? Nitro Expedition? Yes, please.
