I bought this after months of staring at it. I love it. It goes up there with the better Double/Imperial Stouts. Solid. Typcial notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, etc. The nitro does the trick for the mouth-feel, very creamy. Almost milkshake like. The ABV definitely makes it a sipper, and for the $15 for a 4pk, that's just fine.
I'd recommend with a piece of cheesecake or a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Would probably go well with a steak and mushroom dinner too.
Cheers!

Wake Up Dead Nitro has a medium, big-bubbled (at the top), beige head, a dark brown appearance, with standard brown picked up at the edges, and moderate lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of mildly-roasted malts, brown bread crust, and a bit of dried fruit. The flavor is of those elements, with some slight char, nougat, raisin, and fruit cake. Bitterness is present, but certainly not predominant. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Wake Up Dead Nitro finishes medium dry.

Look-Fairly black color with a trick tan/white head that lasts threw-out the whole beer and even after if really fresh.
Smell-The smell of this is very roasty-ness and kind of tastes like the black licorice it was brewed with
Taste-Deep notes up front with a strong follow up of black licorice and cocoa. Very, very good tasting.
Feel-A little slippery.
Overall- Beer is great and a very very top from LH especially when that fresh. MY Lord. All i gotta say is pour this thing straight up and down, hard and watch the head sit there for 30 mins after the beer is gone. LH finest up and down.

12 oz nitro bottle poured hard into pint glass.
A - Black with a cascade of fine brown bubbles, which settles down to a finger of creamy light brown head. A good centimeter of head persisted the whole time I was drinking.
S - A muted aroma of chocolate and roasted malts.
T - Sweet chocolate, coffee, and a good amount of roasted malts. There is a moderate amount of bitterness as well.
M - Super smooth and creamy, as nitros tend to be. The alcohol is impressively hidden and this goes down very easy. The velvety smooth texture complements the sweetness and bitterness well.
O - Another great nitro from Left Hand. I prefer the milk stout but this is a beast of its own.

A: I love nitro. Hard pour produced NO head. Then magically, over about 30 seconds, a dense khaki head formed (about 1 1/2 fingers). Magic! The head is ever-present and stays at 1/2 a finger the entire time. The beer itself is dark brown/black with little, if any, light penetration.
S: Dark fruits and banana bread.
T: The alcohol is present throughout. Dark malts and some breadiness in the middle. No lingering tastes. For an RIS it is not bold in flavor.
M: Coats the tongue as it goes down. Nice body - really nivce overall feel with a slight tingle of carbonation.
O: Honestly I was hoping for some coffee/chocolate notes. This is a "banana bread" forward beer. It sounds weird to say that - but that is my opinion. Nothing is out of whack with carbonation or mouthfeel it is just not a taste/smell I expect. It is hard to rate - because it is not bad it is just different. I kept expecting to open up some new flavors, as it warmed, but it was constant.

Dark as midnight. AMAZING head. Creamy, smooth, delicious, chocolatey malt all wrapped up in WOW! I will be getting more of this one. The cascading head from the initial pour was a thing of beauty. Left Hand never fails to entice and this is one that is mouth-watering and definitely worth your while to find.

Wow!!, first sip was an eye opener, looks and feels like a Guinness, hard pour with a lava lamp look and light airy feel but has a very strong alcohol bitter taste that just lingers.

A - Pours a rich, thick and creamy pitch black. Forms a finger of tan, creamy pillowy head. Becomes almost a marshmallow floating atop the beer.
S - Milky sweet malts, medium bitter chocolate, creamy espresso coffee, dark cooked raisins, dates, prunes and figs.
T - Heaven. Creamed coffee, bitter chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, the sweetness and bitterness perfectly counterbalance one another. Luxuriously thick and creamy mouthfeel, coats the mouth and throat.
O - So far, the best stout I have ever drank in my lifetime. 5 stars, 10 out of 10, world class stout.
V - Worth it at any price

12 oz.
Pours a deep black with no head at first, then a nice nitrous head forms, very light tan and very fine. Retains for a very long time.
Smells of cocoa, cream, brown sugar, vanilla and a hint of oak.
Tastes of vanilla, chocolate, cream, and roasted rich malts.
Body is thick and creamy, feels velvety and goes down very smooth.
A very nice imperial which benefits greatly from the nitro presentation. While I think this would be pretty good no matter what, the added body and appearance from the nitro makes it special.
