Poured a 16oz can into a hefeweizen glass. Look is a hazy cloudy gold tone, and has a sizeable head that quickly dissipates. Smell is mostly lemon, berries, and yeast-- I am assuming the berry scent is Juniper berries of course. Overall the scent is slightly bitter/acidic. Taste is yeasty, lemon, and hops while the Juniper is a pleasant mellow taste, totally unexpected considering the smell. Feel is light, medium carbonation with a lingering aftertaste. Finishes slightly dry, but not unpleasant.
I picked this beer up cheap ($5 for a 4-pack) so I figured I'd give it a try. This is a good Saison/Farmhouse beer, and is pretty unique in that it contains Juniper berries-- the first I've seen to be honest. If you are a fan of Saison beer, or want to try something different than your typical IPA, give this beer a try.

A - Golden orange body, slightly hazy, short head, minimal capping, lots of small bubble lacing.
S - Mostly the juniper, a bit of sweetness, a trail of acidic burn at the close.
T - The flavor opens with fairly typical Saison notes, strong limestone and soft malty sweetness, followed by a bright fruit note of juniper berry, gin-like. The finish lingers, tart.
M - Moderate body, mild carbonation, lingers a bit on the tongue.
O - A decent, if somewhat one-dimensional Saison. The juniper is a nice touch.

16oz can
Pours nearly two fingers of white head into my willi becher glass. Extremely creamy and pillowy. Body is a pale yellow color, pretty transparent, and carrying more bubbles than I have seen in a long time. Retention so far is very good, after 4 or 5 minutes there is still a solid finger. Good looking beer so far.
The nose is definitely not your average saison aroma. Very dry, almost no esters to speak of. Not getting any juniper either. Some Lemon notes, a tad floral. Faint notes of light malt. At face value, it’s not a great aroma; not very much going on, scentless. However, it is bright, and smells very refreshing. Sub par, but not hopeless.
Faint esters hit the palate, bigger than the nose, but not too prominent overall. Juniper is not noticeable. Not as dry as I was expecting, its got some wetness to it, which is welcome considering it smelled dry as all hell. Overall not a lot going on, it’s basically a really sessionable, light saison, which is fine I guess. I don’t love it, but it’s serviceable for a session beer.
As per usual with this glass, the carbonation quickly gets pretty low. Luckily this is a style that can handle a small carbonation, at least in this case. Body is pretty light. Good balance between dryness and wetness. Carbonation aside, it’s a good mouthfeel.
The drinkability is good, it’s tasty enough and it goes down easy.
Overall a decent beer. I’m giving it a complete pass on the whole no juniper thing, but whatever. Would prefer more flavor, but it’s got a decent core to it.
Appearance turned out wonderful. Thick lacing all the way down the glass. The head hung around quite a long time as well, dissipating to a hefty sliver as the beer concluded.

(1 pint can, best by 01/22/2019... poured into a Chouffe tulip)
L: crystal-clear, yellow-gold liquid... does throw up a bit of white crackly foam, but it collapses to a thin collar... subsequent pour of the remainder of the can drops in a bit of speckled sediment, but same quickly-collapsing foam
S: somewhere in between tripel and saison... soft spice, subtle citrus tone... not getting much juniper on the nose, but yes to a delicate malt sweetness... hint of alcohol at the top... decent/good potency overall
T: most definitely get a hint of the juniper berry up front, 'sweetened' by the firm malt foundation; soft note of the bitter/herbal berry skin in the finish, its presence swelling a touch before leveling off, letting the subtle clove-y spice and nutty, cookie-like malts of the base beer to take over... little more than halfway through and the bitterness of the berries begin to take hold
F: light-bodied in general, but with a soft blanket-y plush surge midway, and some vaguely, delicately oily viscosity carried along... carbonation is dull; very light lingering warmth... sedate numbness on the tongue from the bitterness most exciting thing happening
O: maybe I caught this too far into its decline?... was hoping for more juniper presence and, with it relatively subdued, the exposed base beer turned out rather American, brewpub-ic, boring, and familiar... interesting enough on paper to make me bite

Left Hand Brewing Company "Saison Au Genièvre"
1 pint can, "BEST BY: 01/22/2019" and sampled on 10/13/2018
$3.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Look: Slightly hazy golden body with some visible particulate in suspension. It's inch and a half or so of creamy white foam drops fairly quickly.
Smell: Lightly phenolic like plastic, and herbal over grainy and lightly sweetish, candy-sugar-like malt.
Taste: Phenolic with some mild clove, and sweetish with sugary malt, but also lightly herbal and spicy. A moderate bitterness balances it and leads to a mostly dry finish. The Juniper berries appear in the lingering finish with a delicate spiciness. The more you drink the stronger it becomes but it never becomes bright and clear.
Feel: Medium in body and gently effervescent.
Overall: Unique and interesting, and certainly not overdone with Juniper. Nicely balanced and highly drinkable.

From the 16 oz. can with a best by date of 01/22/2019. Sampled on September 25, 2018.
The appearance is golden yellow with a quick lasting white head and excellent clarity.
The aroma emits some minor juniper berry sensations but otherwise it is all about crusty bread, yeast, hay, and grass.
Light, effervescent body.
Again, the juniper sensations are subtle in the flavor but they become more forward as it warms. Generally sweet and ends clean, crisp, and mildly dry,

4 pack of tall boys purchased direct from the Left Hand brewery on Wednesday and consumed right now, Sunday evening.
Lovely pour: dark gold, fluffy white head, translucent.
Smells clean yet herbal, no real clear nodes of juniper so much as a spicy yeast and some pleasant old timey potpourri qualities.
Tastes like juniper up front, moving to a more generic herbal middle, finishing very dry and yeasty. Everything comes together really fantastically and it hides its relatively high ABV quite well.
