Poured from a 12oz can best by August 4th 2022

On the pour a 2-3 finger head forms of fine and large bubbles pretty active carbonation, but the body is black. Carbonation is noticeable on top. Head is a nice brown. Over a few minutes it dissapated to a thin rocky covering and rim around the glass.

Aroma is nice and roasty but not burnt with dark chocolate and some light fruity fermentation notes. Pretty mild but still a nice solid aroma. Almost an esters brightness on the finish.

Flavor follows the aroma but with some added complexity. On the front there almost a roasty bitterness but it quickly gives way to a nice dark but creamy chocolate bitterness. On the back end is a nice light but balancing hop flavor mostly for some bitterness and a bit of American hop flavor but it's subtle and mostly balancing the sweetness. Very nice classic dark beer.

Feel is big and creamy but sessionable. Despite the darkness, it is a good year rounder with a good bit of lightness. Creamy with the head and malts making it smooth to put down and almost hot chocolatey.

Overall a good porter without too much sweetness and seems to follow the purity law which I appreciate. It's tasty smooth and thick without being overwhelming.

Inky black pour with moderate medium brown head. Aroma is lighter than the color would indicate; some chocolate and malt with just a hint of berry. Flavor is chocolate porter with some slightly sweet molasses notes and a bit of roasted coffee.

Appearance: Pours a near completely black appearance with a mild, but tan head. SRM of 23. (3.75)

Aroma: Moderate to strong aromas of deep and rich chocolate, dark barley malt, sweet molasses, and some dark berry as mentioned on the can. Mild roastiness. Leans malty. (4.00)

Flavor: The flavor follows with more deep and rich chocolate flavors. Some rich chocolate syrup, dark barley malt, and dark berry flavors. Mild espresso roast. Incredibly deep, malty, and rich, without being too sweet. (4.25)

Feel: Moderate to heavier bodied. Mild carbonation. Feels thick and smooth on the palate. Executes this quite well. (4.00)

Compared to Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter 3/7/21: Pours a similar color. Milder, but darker head. Stronger and sweeter aromas. More rich chocolate, dark malt, and berry. Less cocoa powder, airy espresso roast, and lactose cream. Finishes sweeter and heavier.

Overall: A fantastic porter for 6.0% ABV. Leans malty with strong RICH CHOCOLATE SYRUP, DARK BALREY MALT, DARK BERRY. Only minimal roast compared to other porters. Not unlike the Founder's Porter, but this one has a different malt flavor profile and probably less creamy. I haven't had boysenberry before, but I definitely detect a dark berry malt flavor.
Oveall, strong and rich flavors without being too sweet. Quite impressed by this one and will definitely seek if out if I can find it again.
*Would compare to Bells or Founders next*

Pours very dark. Thin foam. Slight roasted malt aroma. Not a lot of big flavors. A little chocolate sweetness. Some roasted maltiness. Somewhat dry finish. Very drinkable. A very solid porter.

L: Pours an opaque black with little to no head.
S: Very malty upfront, sweet chocolate, faint amount of hops, dark fruit.
T: Taste follows the nose, the chocolate is all there & it finishes with the dark fruit; somewhat bitter.
F: Full-bodied, low-medium carbonation, thin.
O: Not a bad porter to try.

Deep, dark brown body topped with a thick, foamy, rocky head. Decent roasted grain smell. Excellent roasted grain and milk chocolate flavors; sweet with a touch of grain char bitterness. Heavy body; smooth and silky with residual sugars coating the palate; primarily sweet mouthfeel overall.

This is a fine, tasty porter. It brings some great classic flavors, gently sweet and rich and luscious in texture.

I thought this was a cool name and I was in the mood for a porter. Impressive lace as well. This is a little light in body but the texture and carbonation are a nice fit. The flavor has dark chocolate and roast coffee and a tidy finish. Solid little porter.
