Left Hand OktoberfestLeft Hand Oktoberfest

Brewed by:
Left Hand Brewing Company
Colorado, United States

Style: Märzen / Oktoberfest

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.60%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is no festivus for the restivus, on the contrary, we start brewing in the spring and it takes a full two months to reach lagered perfection. Biscuity, malty goodness dominates upfront while the noble pedigree hops lend a properly spicy, dry finish.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: A light copper/amber look with minimal head.

S: There is a mild caramel aroma. A very crisp smell that doesn't linger.

T: There is a definite hoppiness to this beer that you don't find in most Octoberfest style beers. For those of us that enjoy hoppy beer (as I do), this is a nice note to a full flavored beer. There is a slight bitterness, but the flavor doesn't stay on the tongue for long.

M: This is very easy on the mouth. It is a full bodied, full flavored beer that doesn't hit it hard with overly strong notes. A light bitterness that disappears quickly from the tongue.

O: A nice change for an octoberfest style beer. I love the hop taste that it ads. A solid beer that I would definitely drink again, though I don't know that I would actively seek it out.

This pours a clear, amber color with a slight off-white head. The aroma is mild with scents of toasted malt and spices. The texture is smooth and creamy delivering a great tasting Oktoberfest. Finishes with a slight hoppy spice after taste. Very well made and probably one of the better Oktoberfest beers I have had in awhile

This beer has a nice ruby brown body with a small head that hangs out for a little bit. The aroma has a malty, sweet carmel aroma to it. The taste has a great strong malt flavor up front then it mellows out towards the finish. The mouthfeel is very nice and a very good represation of the style.

12 oz bottle poured into a nonic

Pours a clear orange color with a half finger of foam that fades quickly. Aroma is a subtle maltiness with just a kiss of floral hops.

Malty, clean, munich malt flavor. Rather thin-bodied. The 6.6% ABV is well disguised, it doesn't taste boozy in the slightest.

This is a refreshing beer, albeit a little unremarkable. I wouldn't mind drinking this again, but won't go out of my way to do so.
