Very dark beer, not much, if any light getting through this one. Has a tan head that lingers a bit.

Smell has chocolate and coffee notes in it. Also a bit of sweetness, reminds me a little of hot chocolate.

Chocolate, caramel, coffee. Reminds me of a chocolate bar in liquid form. Has just a touch of bitterness in the finish.

Nice and smooth feel, little on the thick side, but not overly so.

A really nice stout, there is a lot of flavor here. There is a sweetness that keeps things from getting too dry and bitter, ends up balancing nicely. I sampled this at a beer fest over the summer, but only now have the chance to properly review and appreciate it, and glad I tried it, a really nice beer.

This is one of my favorite stouts. I love pretty much everything from Left Hand, but this thing is so bold. Perfect about a hearty meal. Sticks to the glass like oil. Now I have to go get some when I get off work. Well I don't want to say anything else, but my comment has to be 250 characters long so this is just a bunch of bs to get there.

12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter

Appearance: Pours a pitch black, that completely prevents any light to pass through, even when up to the light. Poured from a bottle, the beer had very little head, maybe a quarter of a finger, but that might be generous, that almost immediately dissipated into an extremely thin halo of foam that gripped the glass and formed wispy clouds of foam in the center of the glass.

Aroma: Wow! Lots of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. Malt and dark bread, like pumpernickel. Some very slight vanilla notes, and subtle licorice.

Taste: Very malty! I like! Some of the chocolate comes through, but it’s much more malty than chocolate, which is the opposite of the aroma. There is some vanilla, which the aroma hints at, but none of the licorice, which is good as I don’t like licorice. Finally there’s some sweetness that is then replaced by some slight bitterness of roasted coffee beans. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Thin to medium, but maybe a touch more to the medium side. Creamy and smooth, as is benefiting a milk stout, with some slight carbonation to tickle the taste buds. Not cloying.

Overall: This is a very good stout. It’s nicely balanced and very pleasant to drink. I’ll have to keep it in rotation of milk stouts to get and keep on hand.

This beer starts off with a nice off-white head and a dark body. The aroma is fairly weak but has subtle hints of toasted malt and hops.

The taste is less sweet than I expected. It has a good roasted bitterness that leads the pack. Sweetness makes its way in but does not overwhelm.

It has a nice thick and creamy mouthfeel.

Overall this is a decent beer.
