This is a very good, dark, thick, high octane, no nonsense, Milk stout. At 6%, my impression is that the AVB is high vs. traditional stouts, so go slow, bros.

I had this at Rudy's in NY (of Steely Dan's "Black Cow" fame, which would be a great name for it there, since it's sold as the in-house, white label stout.

Very creamy, milky toasted stout. A female friend of mine, who hates all beer, has become a regular Left Hand Stout drinker, which says a lot.

Pours a very effervescent mahogany with 1 thumb of caramel colored head. Good lacing & average head retention

S: Roasty & coffe note

T: Follows the nose , some chocolate too up front. Roasty & cocoa notes as this warms, slight lactic acid twang & dryness as well. Finishes roasty, a little dry with a whisper of vanilla mocha & just a bit of figgyness

MF: Medium bodied, silky smooth carbonation

Very drinkable, a nice presentation of the style

A - no head. Of course. Lots of tiny beady bubbles to resemble lacing. Very very dark brown. Opaque.

S - rich roasted malts and dark bread with a hint of pot roast. Sweet caramely.

T - bitter sweet 70% chocolate diluted into a nuttela spread then mixed with a light amber ale.

M - thin nitro like. Almost too thin. But slightly slick.

D - highly drinkable good in cold and hot weather.
