Inital pop of the cap resulted in a momentary gush before the beer settled down. Pour was a light amber/copper. Hops up front with some herbal character, quickly giving way to a caramel malt. Overall rather mild, and not at all what I would consider an APA. More of a pale ale, with leanings toward the British more malt-centric side.

I am on a quest to find the perfect session beer for my self indulgent tastes. I have been wanting to give this beer a chance, but have been reluctant due to the price: >$9.00 for a sixer.

I expect a lot from Left Hand. This beer was a bit of a let down for me. It is definitely better than a lot of Pale Ales out there, but I have to keep looking for my new session beer.

Beer pours a pale amber to 24 karat gold color with a fair head that does not linger. It smells hoppy but there isn't much of a hop profile to taste. The beer is pretty well balanced, just not dazzling. I want to be dazzled.

Anyway. More Milk Stout for me when I order a Left Hand.

Bottle into a pint glass. The bottling date is unfortunately smeared beyond recognition. Looks very good, though. Nice clear golden body, with plenty of carbonation bubbles and a big three-finger white head. The head has good retention and leave nice lacing.

The aroma follows along nicely. Some good citrus and floral hop notes dominate the aroma. Just a bit of caramel malt in the background.

The flavor is, unfortunately, a step down from the aroma. Was expecting more of a hop flavor, but the hops are more muted than I expected and the taste is more malt forward. But, at least it is a very decent caramel malt that finishes with a minor hop bitterness, more of the floral and tropical fruit variety.

Light mouthfeel that is very drinkable. A little more hops in the flavor would make this a top notch Pale Ale.

A- Clean crisp golden body with a moderate foamy white head

S- Grapefruit sneaks up on you in the nose as it's fairly muted

T- Nice malt presence up front and lightly hopped. Full-flavored

M- Light/medium body with crisp, moderate carbonation

O- Solid pale ale and quite enjoyable. The name makes me chuckle...
