Brewed in honor of William & Mary Homecoming, Green & Gold is a fall mainstay at 401 Second Street.
A golden hued India Pale Ale, this single-hopped recipe produces a pineapple bomb with fresh grassy notes and distinct orange peel flavors & aromas thanks to a 3 lbs. per barrel finish with the hop formerly known as Amarillo Gold.
This smooth IPA is best paired with tailgating ahead of the big game or rooting on your favorite team with your Tribe. A portion of proceeds from Green & Gold sales will be donated to William & Mary in support of student scholarships.
Alumni owned. Locally brewed. Hark upon the ale! #RollTribe

From the bottom of the can: "10/06/2017 Roll Tribe"
Appearance: The beer is a light hazy gold with a rocky, fluffy, white head. The head has good retention and leaves a lot of lacing.
Aroma: It has a big flowery aroma with some what smells like grapefruit and lemongrass.
Taste: It starts with a big grain flavor which is followed by a slightly catty character and a soapy floral taste which lingers on the palate to the end. The hops taste fresh.
Mouthfeel: It has a moderately strong bitterness with a soft and thick texture. It finishes wet with a slightly raspy resinous character.
Overall: It's a good beer that will certainly "scratch the hop itch" if you have it. The key element of this beer is that the hops taste fresh in the beer and it really boosts the enjoyment of the beer. The grain also tastes fresh which gives it even more character. The hops do take on a very floral aroma and flavor which might be off-putting to those who enjoy herbal, piney, or citrus focused hops. It does have a touch of grapefruit but overall it is a bit like floral soap. I would recommend trying it out but it probably won't be one I buy regularly.

Poured from a 16oz can into a speiglau IPA glass.
Look is a hazy bright yellow with an inch and a half head.
Aroma is intensely bitter pithy citrus.
Taste is a lot lighter than the aroma. More balanced with a slightly herbal quality.
Excellent beer and who doesn’t love the name!! Go Tribe!
