World-Class
Juice Jr.Juice Jr.
Notes: This sessionable IPA is brewed with an insane amount of Mosaic hops and lots of love. Juice Jr. is the little brother of JB DIPA.

Juice Jr. just might be our most popular hazy IPA. This classic is all about the citrus and tropical Mosaic hop. Lush and easy drinking with notes of citrus and pineapple.

great notion has just launched in the boise market, they do so much cool stuff, this is a great add here, but its also a smart add, definitely among their most easy drinking ipa types ive had, so many of them are just massively full bodied, thick and milky, and hopped to oblivion, this one will be lighter and more familiar to most folks, similar but superior to many of its peers, and as a showcase of mosaic, i think its outstanding, this is a great choice of a beer to kick it off with, everyone who likes hops will love it. softly hazy lightly orange tinted brew with a pretty inch of airy white head, good retention, sexy lace, this is well refined for the style, clean looking for these guys. aroma is awesome, recognizable as mosaic, but in all its pure glory here, maybe more complex than many, white grape, almost ripe pear, familiar pineapple from the can and meyer lemon zest, really bright and fresh and on what seems to be a pretty minimal grain base, if there are oats in here its just a pinch. the ferment is clean, the malt base is dry with just a gentle cereal layer in support of the hops, so its all about the big juicy dry hopping here, i get hints of coconut, white wine, green banana, and mango here along with everything i can smell, rather dynamic for a beer thats single hopped, or close to it, not sure if there are some other bittering hops in the boil, but bitterness is low here. the mosaic is punchy and pungent and new, no green burn or bite at all, and the finish is dry and clean, something missing in a lot of their bigger hazy ones ive had. lovely citrus conclusion here, jovial carbonation, easy drinking as hazy ipa can be, just extremely well done. stoked to have great notion in idaho!

Guess who's now in the Boise market? Yep, Great Notion. On-tap in Nampa, this one is a clean, moderately hazed NE pale with a small white cap. Very, very juicy on the nose, tropical and citrusy hops abound, and the palate is no different. Very fruity and floral and drinkable and hoppy, light and smooth as well with very low perceived bitterness. Good stuff GN.

Hazy orange color, mild head and lacing. Smell is bright citrus, notes of grapefruit, pineapple, orange, and mango. Taste is tangy, zesty, and citrusy with notes of the same fruits above, some lemon as well. Crisp, lighter to medium bodied, slightly mouth watering finish. Excellent milder version of a NEIPA.

A: Pours a bright murky golden mango yellow-ish orange in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate bright yellow + apricot + peach + pale orange + bright orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a handful of small to medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of mottled very thin film and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy tropical/mango + citrus/grapefruit + citrus/grapefruit zest + herbal + stone fruit/peach + dank resinous hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of biscuit + wheat malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit + wheat malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy tropical/mango + citrus/grapefruit + citrus/grapefruit zest + herbal + stone fruit/peach + dank resinous hops which impart a minimal amount of bitterness and leaving moderate lingering tropical + dank hop flavors.

M: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Initially slightly crisp with a hint of soft/fluffiness mid-body and a light amount of dryness in the finish. Slightly watery overall.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a light albeit slightly watery mouthfeel with just a hint of hop astringency. Really enjoyable mosaic hop flavors and aromas - lots of tropical + citrus + stone fruit + herbal + darkness.

Can poured into a Great Notion Brewing Teku glass (Pinkys up!)

A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.

S: Mix of juicy tropical, citrus, and stone fruit, guava, pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, and peach jump out + even more, floral notes a bit of resinous pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Juicy citrus, tangerine, grapefruit, and lemon, tropical and stone fruit, guava, mango, passion fruit, peach, apricot, and a touch of pineapple, resinous pine, floral, a bit grassy, faint green herbal notes, biscuity malt, and light caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderately lively carbonation.

O: Really nice balance of juice and bitterness, all the fruit pops, and all at 6%! I wish I could find this on a regular basis, but I'll take a 1 time can drop.

I love what these guys are putting out, so many different styles, and they seem to get a very solid take on each of them. These NEIPA has all the characteristics, hazy, tropical fruit forward, a smooth texture. I appreciate that this one has more bitterness and astringency on the finish rather than the fruity sweetness. I still get the guava, ripe melon, star fruit but it has that backend bitter bite that washes away some of that cloying fruitiness that might be more common. Another winner, Im always going to look for more of what these guys offer

S: Mango, peach, orange zest, grassy.

T: Mango, white peach, orange zest, slight grass. Slight citrusy bitterness, but it does not linger.

F: Medium-full, moderately carbonated, hefty but not chewy.

O: A really solid NEIPA. Well done.

Juice Jr. from Great Nation Brewing. Received from woemad in NBS BIF #15. Stored at 40 degrees after receiving. Reviewed 24/05/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Top edge of can stamped “03/??/22”, barely legible. Served at 43.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 50.1 degrees.
Appearance – 4 – after rolling the can several times.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), hazy and opaque.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), hazy and opaque. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 5.5 cm, aggressive center pour), ghost white, low-density froth, average retention, diminishing to an extremely jagged and irregular 0.8 to 1.2 cm crown and a partial cap. Some lacing resembling Sanskrit remains as the head retracts.
Lacing – Excellent! Wide bands of tiny to large bubbles with islands budding from the upper edge. See also above.
Aroma – 4.25 – Melon and a bit of dankness. No malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 4.25 – Starts lightly bitter and dank, not tasting any melon, with a bit of malt. No yeast. No ethanol (6 % ABV as marked on label) taste or aroma. Mild gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends with a moderately bitter aftertaste and a lot of dankness.
Palate – 4 – Medium, short of creamy, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Interesting. The aroma promised melon and dankness, only the dankness materialized. Still, not bad! Thanks Fred!

Packaged on 1/26, consumed on 3/10 - poured from a tall-boy can into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.

Hazy arylide body with a half finger of active off-white soap like bubbles up top. Even, medium sized lacing; average retention.

Dank nose suggests marijuana, pine, and low herbal/spice notes. Hints of blueberry, gooseberry, and low tropical, floral, and citrus notes as well.

Interesting palate entry, quite herbaceous, nearly vegetal (not in a bad way). Unripe fruit, cucumber, melon, and green tea follow. Restrained, minty/peppery bitterness leads into a zesty, brisk, medium-dry finish.

Medium-light bodied, well carbonated, and faintly warming.

Distinctive, unique take on the style, but lacks the tropical or citrus notes I would expect for a "juicy" version of the style. Good but not outstanding.

Appearance: Pours with a rather opaque honey color; the head rises to one finger and lingers, leaving spots of lacing

Smell: Dank and tropical, with mango and berry tones

Taste: The dank aspect is present at the outset, being joined by mango, berry and Clementine orange tones; after the swallow, the dankness builds, bringing a moderate level of bitterness to the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation; a bit aqueous for the ABV

Overall: I don't think of 6% as sessionable but this feels lower in ABV while packing in a lot of juicy flavor

Thanks, BEER88, for the opportunity

16 oz can

Pours hazy golden, white head dissipates to a lacing.

Aroma of fresh citrus and cereal malts.

Flavor is of light citrus, cereal malts, and a clean earthy hop finish.

Lighter body, mild tingly carbonation.

Easy drinking and very refreshing. Good flavor but also mild. Good session candidate. I would drink this often.

Typical hazy yellow body, tight white head. Mango, grapefruit, dull berries, lemon and pine in the nose. Taste is so juicy with the grapefruit and mango, other fruits from nose plus melon and papaya support, hops are present but not sharp until very edge of finish. Feel is juicy, bright, medium bodied, and well balanced. Very nice neipa!

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a snifter glass. Had a yellowish color and an extremely cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Not a whole lot of lacing, though.

S: A very good aroma of citrus fruit, hops, tropical fruit, and malt.

T: Tasted of a bit of hops (not overdone a subtle presence), a decent shot of citrus fruit (grapefruit, in particular), a fair bit of tropical fruit (mango, especially), and light malt notes (mostly in the finish; not a big factor). This is a solidly focused, and quite fruity flavor. Not cloying, but definitely sweet. Tasty stuff.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A very well made and enjoyable beer. Drinkable.

Hazy orange with a finger-and-a-half of airy, off-white head. Modest lacing.

Mango, pineapple, pine dust and white pepper in the nose.

A similar interesting balance of fruitiness and dull, piney, oniony, earthy bitterness in the taste. A bit watered down. Strong pepper on the backend.

Medium bodied, somewhat creamy with moderate carbonation.

I like the pepperiness in the finish. Nice, easy-drinking brew.

A: Hazy Arnold Palmer hue with 1-2 fingers of foamy off-white head with good retention and a thin collar of lacing.

T: Flavor is also a ton of ruby red grapefruit, guava. mango, orange, lime, and lighter herbal lemongrass note. Fruity esters are plentiful with low-medium bitterness
