Appearance: Gorgeous dark brown body with a complementing mocha tan head.
Smell: Will take you back to childhood when you would wake up and smell mom making pancakes for breakfast. Even if you don't like stouts, you will love the smell. Instant maple nose that grabs you and never goes away.
Taste: Instant maple taste, touch of coffee that adds a very light acidity to the palate. It really does taste like a pancake breakfast. Much like any pancake breakfast, you'll want to come back for seconds.
Feel: This a very rich, thick, creamy stout. Just the right amount of carbonation.
Overall: Fantastic stout. Would be perfect for a camping trip, waking up breakfast beer, or a nice brew before bed. All around great beer!

The best thing about this beer is the stunning amount of maple syrup in the aroma and the taste. But that is also, maybe, the worst thing about this beer. Delicious (for syrup lovers, like myself), but best consumed in small quantities. Unless you spent your entire childhood at IHOP, and yearn to return...

Literally like eating pancakes soaked in maple syrup with a cup of coffee. Pours a deep black with a thin brown head. Nose of maple and black coffee. Taste is beautiful. Seriously like a stack (or2) of pancakes. The roastyness of this stout is all coffee related. It’s interesting because this beer looks robust and full of roasted toasted malts but it’s actually quite the opposite. Fresh pancakes off the griddle, soaked in maple syrup with a cup of coffee as I said earlier is the best way to describe the taste. Nice silky smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Excellent beer.

Appearance - Pours black with a big mocha colored head that settles to a thick cap great retention. Lots of stringy lacing around the glass.

Aroma - Wow huge amount of maple syrup, vanilla, coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Smells like breakfast in a glass.

Taste - While the maple is more powerful in the nose the maple and coffee are equally strong in the taste. light vanilla and big roasted malts add great balance.

Feel - Heavy side of medium, smooth creamy slightly warming from the alcohol. Nice dry finish.

Overall - One of the best maple stouts I have had, smooth really easy drinking sticky maple feels like you need to wash your lips.

On tap at the brewery, Portland.
Tan ring over jet. 4
MAPLE! 4.5
Touch of caramelized sugar, a whack of coffee then a metric shit-ton of maple, with some clean roasty comeback. 4.25
Round, chewy, medium. 4

How do they do this?! Sugar should ferment clean out. Maple galore, just enough coffee, even a good stout underneath. GN’s best. 4.25

Wow. Maple syrup and a hint of coffee with a fairly boozy finish. Thick, just like syrup. A tasty treat.

Thanks to Jim S. for this 16 oz. can, a long-time want finally coming off the board.

The black pour looks sticky & swishing like a wine snob proves it to be true. The nose is spot on as advertised: coffee, roast, sweet syrup. Lovely.

Double Stack is more subtle than I expected (with no basis for my assumption). The maple syrup & roast blend seamlessly, neither more dominant than the other. Beyond the core there is a deep bitterness from the coffee, cocoa, touch of vanilla. No hint of booziness, but smooth, sticky, & very easy to drink. Not too sweet at all.

In hoping for a maple syrup bomb, what I received was more like a standard issue breakfast stout that’s finely balanced. Very good beer.
