Notes:
Hazy IPA - Double India Pale Ale with mangosteen flavor
We combined ingredients from two of our favorite IPAs, Super Ripe and Over-Ripe. We fermented this beer with exotic fruit, added a massive amount of tropical hops, and boosted the ABV all the way to 11% (sic). We get loads of over ripe fruits like cantaloupe, Pineapple, and Papaya. Enjoy!

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, hazy, golden orange color with a good-sized, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, orange, mango and sweet caramel. Sweet tropical fruit taste with bright flavors. Toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from a one pint can on October 9, 2022. The ABV of the version I tried is 9.0%. Notes of melon and tropical fruit. Very tasty.

Canned 7 weeks ago. I think I just really don't like fruited IPAs, especially ones with flavoring specifically. Kinda tastes like a 4 loko, tbh

It’s a really interesting beer. Nice balance of the fruity sweetness and hop bitterness. I had to mark this down a bit due to the mangosteen addition, out of principle.

Poured as a nice orange yellow color, fairly hazy with a white foam on top. The smell of this beer was really nice, loaded with mango notes that I thought were really well done. The taste again, a good amount of mango coming off of this one and I'm enjoying it. The feel is smooth, extremely drinkable for a slightly higher than normal ABV for this style. Overall even if this beer is "flavored" Great Notion is one of the best in the biz to do it. They have a way of really dialing that shit in and still making an incredibly good beer without going overboard. I thought this one was a home run for sure!

Good head production and decent retention; very nice lacing. Hazy indeed, but it's not a completely opaque murk bomb. Very pleasing lemon yellow and orange hue.
Incredibly juicy aroma, layered with both hops and fruit. Mango, lychee, tangerine, pineapple, lemon, strawberry, melon. It's absolutely lush and inviting, like a walk through a jungle in full bloom. It smells more like a bowl of fruit than an IPA, and by no means is that a bad thing.
Flavor is quite similar. It's very obviously an IPA right off the bat, along with a moderately sweet and thick malt base. By mid-sip, however, the fruit flavor from the mangosteen really takes over, although the bitterness from the hops is if anything re-emphasized beneath the sweetness. It's a wonderful combination and an inspired choice, but most importantly, it wouldn't work if there wasn't a really damn impressive imperial hazy IPA at the core.
Smooth and creamy; just a touch of alcohol heat, noticeable really only as some lingering heat in the chest.
One word: fantastic!

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Dated 08/04/2022. Bought it at Special Brews in Lynnwood yesterday.
Pours a hazy pale yellow with a big 3-4 finger head that collapses slowly, lots of carbonation. Smell is screaming tropical, tons of mango and a little pineapple, some orange julius aroma.
Taste is a little boozy, fruit skin bitterness, moderate juicy sweetness, surprisingly strong bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is medium to thick, a little bit creamy. Overall, this is a nice beer.

can to snifter.
LOOK: mildly cloudy orange-ish yellow color, small off-white head. ok retention
AROMA: BOOM! Super strong fruity aromas. A step above in this category. Melon, cantaloupe, tangerine, palm, mango, grapefruit, lemongrass, passion fruit. I get some little touch of a different fruit everytime i put it down and come back.
TASTE: melon, tangerine, pepper, spice, grass. a little sharp around the edges. almost a perfumy finish.
FEEL: medium body, good carbonation, some dryness,
Very interesting brew, This is my first IPA from Great Notion (almost only sours available near me) and it is very good and unique.

Had on tap. Wow this is impressive how much bursting and ripe fruit character comes through in the taste especially: papaya, pineapple, mango, cantaloupe, grapefruit, passionfruit, and key lime in that order of intensity, with mild hops finishing. So soft and juicy, hides booze perfectly, super refreshing despite larger presence on the palate. Great for summer. Aromas of general tropical fruits abound with cantaloupe and mango standing out in particular.

Oh does this smell over ripe! Over ripe peaches, mangoes, melon, pineapple. Taste is just the same, and for the first time in a while, this had me going "whoa". This is a powerful smelling and tasting IPA that will quench your first for a different tasting IPA. Overall, I know this will not be for some, but for what it is, it's about as close as you can get to nailing it.

Hazy yellow body. Smells great, massive tropical fruit overload, mostly papaya and guava, grapefruit as well. Taste is a bit weird to me, the papaya and the bitter herbal and floral bite to it makes it seem like the papaya has gone way bad. Full body.

A: Pours dirty yellow and opaque with a short-lasting finger's worth of white fluff.
S: Papaya and pineapple, smells like fruit juice.
T: Dear lord, this is literally like a fruit cocktail. So drinkable and fresh-tasting. Very bright flavors and light on the tongue. It's amazing how well-hidden the alcohol is. Pineapple, papaya, passionfruit, tangerine, and hops, hops, and more hops.
M/F: Easy going down, like a 7 percenter. Very smooth and easy drinking. Finishes with papaya and ripe melon.
O: Damn! What an impressive beer. If I were blind tasting this I'd've never guessed it was 11%. Simply amazing how GN can hide that so well. And moreover this tastes sooooo good and so fresh. So many different fruits coming through in the flavor. World-class.

Nice cloudy straw appearance with slight white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a pleasant grapefruit/citrus. Taste is milder than expected grapefruit.

Wow. Tropical fruit explosion. Beautiful balance between bubblegum ripe fruit (mango melon grape peach) and hop bite. Deliciously hazy and bubbly. Reminds me of Tree House meets OH

Pours a hazy straw yellow with white head. Aroma is incredibly intense of fruit salad. Pineapple, mango, peach, berry, and melon explode out of the glass. The palate is dominated by melon, pineapple, passionfruit, and peach. Drinks like a 7% IPA. Without a doubt among the best triple IPAs I've had and definitely the best of the NE style.
