Well it’s juicy. Pours that of orange juice consistency like most hazys do. Soapy white head. Nose is of citrus pith and peel. Taste of juicy citrus on first sip. Orange, grapefruit and tangerines. Lemon, melon and some tropical fruityness as well. Zest and pith follow. Light to minimal floral as well as some minimal sweet malt to taste. Loaded with hops but anything but bitter as the style tends to be. Creamy mouthfeel with a smooth orange Julius like finish.

Ceci n'est pas une IPA. This is bitter orange juice.

The best way to describe the aroma is to say that it feels like a blend of different types of oranges. Up front you have the bright fragrant orange that sprinkles its citrus droplets everywhere the moment you cut it in half and you don't even have to touch the droplets to know that it's sticky.

Following the bright fragrant orange is your ripe juicy orange, i.e. the kind that you pummel onto a ceramic juicer in trying to justify the amount of money you spent just so you can have "fresh-squeezed orange juice" at home when the store-bought Tropicana tastes much better at half the price. Finally there's a hint of sweet winter clementines that join the mix, bringing along their red-headed step child of a friend in the form of lemon rinds.

The palate, however, tells a less citrus-centric story; whereas the orange still maintains the high ground in terms of the flavor composition, it's complemented by equally expressive notes of pineapple, papaya, lemons, clementines, and some earthy herbal notes providing that drying touch which makes this dangerously smooth to session and repeat.

The body on this can probably go head to head against darker and higher ABV beers, but it's by no means burdensome or super filling. Moderate tongue-tickling carbonation accompanies most of the drinking experience, with the brew presenting an overall clean fermentation profile.

I may have set my expectations too high with this one considering how much I love Juice Box. The Double Dry-Hopping did intensify all the juicy goodness of Juice Box, but in a rather one-dimensional way. I wish I could compare the two side-by-side; for science of course, and absolutely not because I just want to drink some right now. Nope.
