i had way higher hopes for this, love rose in beer, and keep hearing how great this brewery is, despite being a little up and down on their stuff in my limited experience. the grateful dead tribute name and can is a heady bonus too. the beer is super pink, but way thicker looking than i want it to be for the style, hazy and very viscous, but with a lot of carbonation and lasting inch and a half of just faint pink head, creamy and peaky. the nose is oddly grainy, wheat maybe, i get that in front of rose or raspberry, but the berries are a close second, tangy and sweet at the same time, some lemon in the sour profile, very little from the rose, lush and plant-like rather than blossoming or perfume essence, and some dry crackers too. the flavor is really bold, as expected from these guys, on the edge of too much. the raspberry is way in front of the rose, almost crowds it out, but its nice and natural to me. the sweetness of it balances the sour, which is clean but pretty piquant. i taste very little grain compared to what i smell. the rose is all on the end, splashy and identifiable through the acidity, and its wonderful in the aftertaste, but still i wish for an earlier onset and more balance with the raspberry, which tramples it pretty good through most of this. good flavor profile if you like them bold, but i dont need this much body in a sour like this, frankly its too much, doesnt really support the flavors the way maybe it was meant to, and even with nice carbonation this drinks heavier than it should. definitely a one and done for me, even though i do appreciate the unique rose aspect and the branding on it. these guys make some cool stuff, no debate, but really they have yet to demonstrate to me that they can really refine a flavored beer at the elite level, this is cooler in theory than it is in the glass, not sloppy, not at all, not even a little, but not technically stunning either. their reputation is slightly ahead of their liquid to me at this point. still, this is fun as heck, very unique, and tasty to drink.

Pours brilliant red leaning toward magenta. Aroma raspberries and rosewater. Taste is raspberry and light rose. Feel ismedium high carbonation. Dryer finish. Overall, Great Notion is really becoming the leader in craft beer masterpieces and a new direction of what beer should be. Tasty, new and exciting.

Canned 3 weeks ago.
Pours deep, hazy red with a persistent off-white head.
The nose is tart raspberry and lemon-lime. Light minerality and floral notes.
The taste follows. Layers of raspberry with hints of rose, cherry, lemon and drying minerality. Low to medium tartness and medium sweetness.
The mouthfeel is medium for the style. Leans more sticky and full on certain sips.
Overall, very good. Probably the least complex of the few Great Notion "tart ales" I've tried, but still highly recommended.
