Poured into grip shaped goblet: color is gold, quite murky, definitely a hefe look and even has some good head and retention with brighter white color.

Smell is overpoweringly peanut butter, little else.

Taste allows some of the underlying hefeweizen character to show through with light banana yeast notes, hints of fruitiness, and then peanut butter flavor with a pastey dry finish.

Mouthfeel is a bit sharp on the end, could be the booziness showing through as I don't perceive it in the flavor.

Overall, i had to taste quickly because I couldnt handle drinking a full glass; peanut butter flavor is heavy, banana and yeast byproducts are light, and the flavor/presence transition is odd with paste like finish to the flavor but sweet/dry lingering presence. Saving the rest of the glass for a dessert to balance.

On tap at Verona Inn in Verona. Pours a golden, effervescent hue with moderate frothing. Very assertive aroma replete with hints of peanut butter. Similar overall flavor profile.

Has a banana coloring. Cloudy. Light head. Light bodied. Hints of herbal, almost like peppermint. Taste blast. Bitter but smooth finish.

A: Bright thick yellow color.
S: Peanut butter and lemon.
T: Taste like 40% lemon and 60% peanut butter. Lemon throughout with an overlapping peanut butter taste.
O: Weird beer that is a mix of citrus with peanut butter and has a tad too much of citrus flavor but, not a bad beer.

DATE: January 4, 2018... OCCASION: a three-day week is down, and drinks are going up--surprise to see so many beers named Fool's Gold... GLASSWARE: Erdinger weizen...pours a tawny, spritzy, blurred yellow body with occasional big bubbles... a single-fingered head laces nicely, white and bubbly... a scratch-and-sniff peanut butter smashes the banana and pepper spice also in the mix... the bubble gum may be a bit much for the profile, with pear also present... the mouthfeel is smooth, untextured, and not at all indicative of an imperial anything... a lasting nuttiness rests at the throat... this rolls through the mouth, inviting and welcoming... beyond the peanut butter, a banana/pear combination that has enough spiciness... this is another Rusty Rail offering that surprised me positively, providing flavor and experience that makes this a welcome case mate, though one that also seems a bit candied in its flavoring....

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours very hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big peanut butter, banana, bubblegum, clove, pear, apple, light pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, peanut butter, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big peanut butter, banana, bubblegum, clove, pear, apple, light pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light peppery yeast spiciness and herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peanut butter, banana, bubblegum, clove, pear, apple, light pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, peanut butter, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an excellent flavored imperial hefeweizen! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, peanut butter, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the mellowly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Tastes just like the PB/Banana sandwich as I hoped. Awesome balance of authentic PB, German yeast complexity, and pale/wheat malts. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Had this on 2018-07-06 in Columbia, PA from a 12oz bottle

A - Somewhat-hazy straw-gold with a 3/4-finger white head that drops quickly leaving little lace.

S - Definitely peanut butter! Not much else but you can get a whiff of base Hefe if you try. It does smell good.

T - Peanut butter at first, then some grassy and herbal hops, then finally the Hefe base beer presents itself with some wheat malt and banana; more so than in the aroma. Then the strong, nutty flavor and some banana ride into the somewhat-dry, not-bitter, flavorful finish.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Satisfying.

O - OK, they pulled it off. I wouldn't have guessed it possible, but in the way a peanut butter and banana sandwich works; so does this beer. Kudos for trying (and succeeding) in making something new. Not a beer I'd have everyday but certainly enjoyable as a treat.
