I feel bad rating this beer- came in a 16oz can, but was a slow gusher and had a massive 5-finger head that reached all the way to the top of the glass, and the beer started foaming out of the can while I was waiting for the head in the glass to calm down. Not a good omen. Smell has this plasticky aroma covering up a slightly nutty and even slightly buttery chocolate aroma. Flavour is metallic, buttery, a bit of chocolate and lactose. Really not a good beer, and clearly not what they meant for this beer to be. Mouthfeel is overcarbonated and thin. Metallic finish. I feel bad rating this beer as its clearly not what the brewers intended it to be, but on the other hand, it's not that old and in a light-opaque can package. I'll re-review and delete this if I come across another can, but this was sent as an extra and I'm not sure if I'll come across this anytime soon. Perhaps if they can again when I'm in SoCal in a few weeks.

Motor oil black with a large, airy mocha foam leaving thin curving arms of lace.

Smell is cocoa wafer, honey, milk chocolate and a bit of toast with an odd, piney wood and banana skin.

Taste is mocha, licorice, and metallic ruggy hops of pine that some breweries can't seem to escape in their dark beers. A hint of cinnamon in the sweet honey emerges with time and a touch of woody booze comes out on the back end.

The body is moderate and the carbonation frothy, as the finish is dry and semi-hot.
