Notes: New York State Ingredient Zwickel Pils. This batch brewed with 6-row barley grown up the road & New York-grown Crystal, NY-grown Tettnanger, and NY-grown Hallertau hops. Do not expect German/continental character in this bold and hoppy NY style lager...this is all NY.

Clear and sparkling yet dull gold with a soft but short white foam head.

Exhibiting sharper and brighter flavors than your classic German, yet not quite as dry and biting as a Czech, this contains light elements of pine and tropical fruit within its floral bitterness, while tangy yet just shy of astringent. The backing malt is like toasted corn, but faint.

The medium body is softly zippy and finishes semi-dry.

Canned 07/06

A clear yellow with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is a nice blend of grain and hop. Unlike the non kellerpils they brew, this has a completely different hop profile, spicy, minty and fruity. The malt character is raw, doughy but not particularly straw like. The palate is raw, rustic, doughy, creamy, a rough sweetness that's unique. The hop character is unique. Rich, minty, earthy, lightly fruity. Drying, rustic finish. Raw and rough, but in a nice way.

16 oz can.

Pours a cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger effervescent white head. Good head retention. Leaves some splotchy lacing around the glass.

Very grassy and grainy aroma up front. Lots of lemon zest, damp hay, and spicy hops.

The flavor has a surprisingly strong lemon character, both zesty and fruity. There's plenty of grassiness, sweet doughy malts, and a sharp spicy hop finish.

The feel is medium-light bodied with good carbonation. Crisp and refreshing, yet pillowy soft and smooth. Absurdly drinkable.

Overall, this is a great German lager. It's so nicely balanced between the lemon, and the earthy characters as well as the hops. Everything comes together so well.

Pours a cloudy bright yellow color. Thin one to two finger sudsy white head forms on the beer, settles in, then slowly dissipates until just a think layer of foam remains on the beer. Lots of sticky white lacing covers the glass as the head recedes and as the beer is consumed. Aroma has notes of straw, doughy bread, light lemon, lemon grass, and dried straw.

Taste follows the nose with notes of straw, lemon grass, lemon, doughy bready malts, and some light spiciness. The lemon actually has a slight twanginess to it thats really nice. Spicy, peppery notes come through on the back end into the finish. The yeast they use in this is interesting - its definitely some farmhouse character to it and that comes through in the profile. Feel is medium bodied, doughy, chewy. And yet, bright carbonation keeps it lively and drinkable.

Overall this is a delicious beer. I will say, that yeast is interesting and I think sets it apart from what you'd expect from a German kellerbier. That being said, its really well crafted and well worth drinking if you get the chance.

Thanks to Roy_Hobbs for this one from a recent ninja box. 16oz can (1/20/21) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a cloudy medium yellow color with 3/4 inch of white head that had good retention and medium lacing.

The aroma was solid grains and floral hops.

Same on the tongue, good malts and hops.

The body was light and clean, with a semi-dry finish.

Drinkability was good, it would an easy brew to quaff.

Overall, a solid and enjoyable brew. Worth trying if you see it.

16 oz. can. Clear golden. Smells of grassy hops and doughy bread. Tastes of doughy bread, faint pilsner malt sweetness, and a surprisingly aggressive spicy hop flavor throughout. Light earthy and spicy hop bitterness. Malt flavor drops off in the finish. Light body. Classic Suarez pillowy texture. Very nice.

Lighter golden body. Crisp grain, a bit of lemon and nice floral hop bite. So clean and full flavored, easy drinking with a medium lighter body, mild-moderate hop bite. Disappeared way too fast, leaves you wanting even more. I think I prefer to Palatine

A: Misty light golden/straw pour atop of which sits a dense white head that is takes on the appearance of whipped cream and the optical prism of soap.

S: Brown peasant bread, a little undercooked and straight out of the oven. Thistly earth, herbal Chardonnay, something b/t coriander and marjoram scented apple stems.

M: Med bodied, hard water minerality with a counteracting slick slime.

T: Doughier malt than the aroma, brown butter fried Mutsu apple skins, coriander spice, mace, sweetened with a Mesquite honey.

Thanks to Roy_Hobbs for this Suarez gem.
Pours almost crystal clear, golden straw in hue, with the penultimate fluff of cloud that we normally call a head. This crown has solid retention and yet leaves a scattering of lace.
Aromas of grass, gentle herbal spice, some bready notes, and the most subtle hint of mineral water with a smudge of sulphur.
Taste is a graceful dance of subtleties. Herbal spice, wet grass, lemon blossom, muted honey, bread dough, and spring water with a higher mineral note.
Crisp and smooth, yet lively. Carbonation is spot on throughout, really keeps this one alive.
Overall, a fantastic drink.

Poured into a Suarez Willi Becher glass. Extremely clear, light straw color with a really nice, dense head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is warm bread. Light and sweet and comes off in waves. Between the look and smell, this beer is begging to be consumed.

Taste has just the right amount of hoppy, herbal goodness. Bread & grass notes, although the bread isn't as prominent as on the nose. LIght, crips, and refreshing with just the right amount of carbonation. Another very well done Suarez beer.

On tap as a slow pour at Delaware Supply in Albany, NY.

There's a big fluffy head, with an ice-cream like whipped head, and lots of lacing.

This tastes like grassy hops, lightly sweet malt, herbal hops, and flowers.

Obviously, this is very good, as it's a lager and it's Suarez. The hop character is light but well done, with floral, herbal, and grassy things going on. There's a light crackery and just slightly sweet malt character.

This is just so well balanced and crispy, with a fantastic drinkability, and a really soft carbonation to it.

There was basically no chance that this would be bad.
