Notes: Ommegang and Boulevard brewmasters joined forces to create this unique collaboration beer. Two batches of beer were brewed and each was fermented with our unique house yeasts. Post-fermentation the two batches were blended, allowing both distinctive yeast signatures to shine through.

Floral, fruitym bready aroma. Characteristic Ommegang amber-orange color. Lotta little guys floating around in there......like someone let the sea monkey loose in a glass. Empire apple notes percolate to the surface as the beer warms. Effervescent blooms and yeast particulate dance in happy unison in the glass. Like autumn in a goblet. Okay, it's May here, and I should be wishing for berries and melons, but this brew has me longing for the harvest. Improves with time, air, heat. If candycorns married champagne and had a love baby, this would be it.

Deliciously sculpted of the traditions of Ommegang and their distinct partnership with Boulevard brewers, a zesty, refreshing but strong beer ensues. Its effervesce of champagne meets the creaminess of beer while fruit, spice and wine tendencies round out its balance.

The collaboration ale pours with honey-amber appearances. With a frothy head climbing upward, its trailing fingerling lace is spectacular- each bubble popping with the vibrant aromatics of orange, lemon, apple and grape. One sip proves supportive of those fruits with the bready sweetness of angel food cake.

The middle palate blooms with notions of floral honeysuckle, coupled with the spicy rebuttal to fruit coming in the form of white pepper, clove, coriander and vinous tartness. Trailing with a bitter hop presence, a spicy grass and straw taste further sells its Belgian namesake.

Once the finish is realized, the stern effervescence takes hold and enlivens the spicy balance that outlives any fruit or malt contingency. Dry, zesty and sparkling of white wine, the beer's finish is crisp, clean even though peps of fruit and spice trickle onward.

Had on tap at the Pig & fiddle, served in a tulip.
A: Hazy gold with a lacy thin white cap.
S: peach and pineapple on the nose.
T: A yeasty fruit cocktail featuring banana, pineapple and traces of others, some light malt and biscuit in the background, light hop accent on the finish.
M: medium body and medium carbonation.
O: The on tap version needs a little more carbonation to keep it interesting and to perk up the yeast flavors.

this is right in the wheelhouse for ommegang, the have gotten away from their home base lately, so nice to see them back in the game with a beer that fits right in with their others, and with their best. its a hazy blonde saison with a copper glow, and it has an awesome white head on it, and stays the whole drink, one nice looking tulip! no clue what the spices are in this, but i could guess grains of paradise, coriander seed, and orange zest, although thats a shot in the dark. it has that citrus acidity, but that could just as easily come from the yeast, which is why i love ommegang, kings of yeast right now, and this is equal parts belgian fruitiness and saison tang, gorgeous and perfectly effervescent. i do get some herbal qualities to this, but its pale wheat malt and belgian pils grain base, and its so clean and light, no way to tell its as strong as it is, just so drinkable and delicious. i was fortunate enough to have this one on tap, i think ommegang beers always do best in the draft format, so this was a treat. a great newer beer for them, i hope they keep putting out this clever stuff, they are famous for a reason.
