Very Good
Witte Wheat AleWitte Wheat Ale
Notes: Witte is our version of the classic Belgian wit or "white" ale. Witte, which is actually Flemish for white, is brewed with malted and unmalted wheat, orange peel, and coriander - offering a refreshing style that showcases the Belgian talent for brewing full-flavored ales that are also light and balanced. It is pale straw in color, slightly hazy from the yeast, and topped with a huge white, fluffy head.

Witte is pleasantly light on the tongue, balanced between malt and wheat sweetness. Hops and spice with a subtle clove note backed by flavors of lemon and sweet orange give way to a dry, crisp, refreshing finish.

That awful cloying Belgian taste. Not much to it in terms of flavor, beyond some spice and apricot maybe. Not my style.

Sampling a cold 12 oz stubbie bottle poured into my weiss glass. Picked up at local bottle shop, date stamp 1/14/2021.
The beer pours a bright gold color with a bleached white fluffy head of 3.5 cm. Nice robust head on this brew. Sits in the glass with just a little haze.
Aroma is some clove and lemon with a little orange too to round out citrus notes. No real hop presence.
First sip reveals a light crisp body with fine tingly carbonation. body is a little thin but seems appropriate for the style.
Flavor is some bready yeast and lemon again. Moves to sweeter orange and finishes spicy with cloves and maybe black pepper. Pretty dry palate on the finish.
A nice beer for a hot day like today. From a great brewery that I simply dont purchase enough anymore.

Pours a hazy pale yellow. Spicy aroma. Big spice body. Refreshing lemon zest finish. This is bolder than a lot of white ales I've had. It's definitely worth trying several times over.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass; bottled 12/17/2019, best by 09/17/20..
A: Pours a hazy, lemony yellow color with an explosive, three to four finger, foamy, white head that leaves more than a rim of retention and decent foamy lacing.
S: Aroma of wet hay briefly, coriander, lemon, cloves, and (perhaps) banana.
T: Dry. Lemon blends with coriander>>clove flavors. Modest, very balanced bitterness.
M: Light and crisp; solid and persistent effervescence. Creamy (perhaps that is what is making me think banana).
O: An exceptionally drinkable Wit. Foodwise, this would go with virtually anything.

Slightly hazy pale yellow pour with a three finger fizzy white head that dissipated slowly to a nice half finger head. Nose of orange peel and coriander. Taste follows the nose with a hint of white pepper and yeast. Well balanced. Dry finish. Light-medium body with high fizzy carbonation.

A: hazy; medium gold in color; 2 finger finely pored white head that receded to a thick rocky cap; very little lacing;

S: coriander with a hint of Belgian yeast in the background;

T: follows the nose up front; orange comes in at the middle and the orange and coriander are nicely balanced through the finish;

M: light to medium bodied; highly carbonated; dry finish;

O: loved the rocky head and dry finish; nice flavor;

Perfectly balanced wheat beer breed with orange peel and coriander. Thin lacing and mild carbonation on pour- some funk and citrus up front, then a dry slightly hopped finish.

I like the bottle label artwork. There is a best by date on the neck of the bottle. The pour is a cloudy light orange. The taste is citrus, slight banana, slight coriander, slight clove & some white pepper on the finish. This is a well made wheat beer that could use a little more coriander. I agree that this beer could use some more flavor like some Belgian yeast perhaps. Well! i'm still glad that I was able to try a beer from this OG craft brewery. Cheers! B
