Having been inspired by my recent purchase of a bottle of their Fleur de Houblon, I am systematically drinking up my Brewery Ommegang beers, with this being the last of the lot.
From the bottle: "Visit us for daily tours & tastings"; "Part of the Duvel Family of Fine Ales"; "Pour slowly so as not to disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet."; ""Where Heaven met Earth and stayed a while."; "In our rich river valley, embraced by forests and mists, a wondrous world of brewing happily exists. I Pop!ped the cap & again began a slow, gentle pour as per their directions. Once I saw even the slightest movement of lees in the bottle, I stopped what I was going and set the bottle down. An in-glass swirl raised just over a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with decent retention, leaving nice lacing in its wake. Color was a solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was an interesting mélange of earthiness from the malt, coupled with the usual suspects of pine resin, lemony bitterness and cantaloupe melon. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but highly carbonated, very scrubby bubbling on the tongue. It is one way to scour off those old, weak taste buds! There was a good bit of fusel heat associated with this one, backed up by the earthiness of the malt and the primary hops flavors being melon & lemon. Phew. Finish was hot & dry and now I got the pine resin in earnest! Whatta drink.

Pours a nice apricot-honey color with a pillowy head of 1 finger. Lots of lace left behind in broken clouds.
Very soft aromas, I'm getting some juicy orange, melon, and guava. Slight alcohol heat and grape vine.
Oh wow. This is all heat, no sweet. A heavy caramel malt back bone, pine, vodka soaked citrus rinds, chalk, and suggestions of hot peppers. This is rather offensive.
Very carbonated, with lots of resins. Heat, heat, heat.
Overall, this was not a good experience for me. I only paid 50 cents for it out of the bargain bin, so I'm not all that upset. But this was way worse than the nose and appearance would have suggested. Drain pour it is.

8/17/17 (Chicago). 12 Oz bottle poured into standard pint glass. Cloudy blonde pour, generous two finger cloudy head, Sweet aroma of citrus, pine and hops. Very bitter taste , which I really like, offset slightly by pine and citrus. Very dry, medium texture, very smooth drinking. Overall very good double IPA, and if you like bitter, you poured the right beer!

OmmeGang – Great Beyond.
This beer has grown on my taste buds. Golden color to match the earthy hop aroma and flavor It has it a shocking bitterness at first but maybe I have grown accustomed To it. The earthy flavor is not for all as it leaves a tongue coating but what really hooked me is the great sale price. 5.99 a 6-pack at my local discounter. No one is beating that at the moment.

Picked up a single from TW Arrowhead 4-15-17 for $3.49 and stored in the beer fridge since purchase.
Beer poured orange with a beautiful white head with the initial pour.
Nose had hints of citrus.
Taste was citrus up front, some tropical in the middle, and heavy pine in the after taste over a big malt base.
Mouthfeel was old school DIPA, very heavy bodied and smooth.
Overall a solid beer that i would have again.

L: Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass. Had a nice amber color and a cloudy texture. There was a half inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Not a whole lot of lacing.
S: A solid aroma of hops, citrus, pine, malt, and some other light fruit.
T: Tasted of a surprising amount of pine (for an East Coast DIPA), light malt notes, a tinge of a bready quality, lots of hops, citrus (orange), some grapefruit, and a little pepper as well. An exceptionally well-balanced flavor; the hops play well with the fruit elements. Complex and flavorful.
F: A good shot of carbonation with a vibrant finish. Medium-bodied.
O: DIPAs aren't exactly what Ommegang is known for, but they did a good job with this one. Very drinkable.

L: Hazy golden orange with a massive fluffy, creamy white head. Retention is near perfect, with sheets of cloud-like lacing left behind.
S: "Smells like HOPS!" was my first reaction. Pungent grapefruit, orange, lemon, pineapple, mango, earthy dankness, stinky green onion, and pine rend apart the nostrils. The malt backbone is big, toasty, bready, with a slight caramel touch.
T: Huge orange and grapefruit rind punish the palate with fervent citrus bitterness, hops like citrus oils oozing across the tongue. A delicate pineapple sweetness dances across the palate, lending some welcome relief from the onslaught of hop insanity. A pillowy malt backbone of warm and rich toasted brown bread holds up this fruity masquerade, caving way at times to a familiar mango sweetness. It finishes abruptly with a smack of pine sap to the mouth, and the stinging sensation of freshly chopped onion. It's massive, it's dry, it's stupendous.
F: Thickly coarse and bready as per expected, with a rolling carbonation that makes it flow with deadly drinakability. A liquid feast.
O: Belgian styles? Psh. Yes, everybody knows that Ommegang is great for that. But what most people don't know is that Ommegang slays at the hop game. This monster could crush most West Coast DIPAs without a second thought. It's ferociously bitter and dank, but strikingly delicious. I highly recommend this tremendous brew!

Serving: 12 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau beer tulip.
Appearance: Hazy golden amber with lush, dense head of white foam that recedes to bubbly cap and spare lace
Smell: Cracked grains, zesty citrus; grassy, spicy hops and yeast.
Taste: Biscuit malt body with lightly honeyed body, spicy and resinous hops.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with creamy feel and moderate carbonation.
Overall: Nice, moderately malty base shows off nicely spicy hops for a relatively complex but balanced brew.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a burnt orange color with a sustaining finger’s worth of white foamy head. Subtle brisk sliding lacing runs down the glass. The smell started off with some bright citrus, sweet melon, subtle peach, light honey, lemongrass, and then some white pepper. It all comes together sweetly in the flavor with the white pepper underscoring the underneath of the beer. Semi-dry sweet aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionable sort of feel surrounding my tongue. Overall, DIPA, yes, I can see it and with an Ommegang sort of twist. I’d have again.
