Very Good
Saison RoséSaison Rosé
Notes: Saison Rosé is a delicate blend of Belgian-style saisons--one aged in oak barrels, the other brewed with hibiscus flowers and co-fermented with Chardonnay grape juice. Fruity, tart and dry with abundant effervescence and pale pink hue.

12 oz bottle
2019
Boiler Brandy snifter

Has a peachy rose blush with a tall creamy cap of 2 fingers, receding to 1. No lace.

Aroma of cellar, rose petals, hibiscus, orange, blueberry, blackberry, floral notes, dry grass, and more rose petal.

Flavor brings some hibiscus, cherry, orange gummy, and very light floral notes. Empties out towards the end, with splashes of water and dry grass.

Feel is very carbonated, very effervescent, surprisingly low alcohol heat for the ABV, and has a general oak mustiness about it.

Overall a little underwhelming but still a nice beer. For fans of wine and saisons. It won't knock your socks off but it's a nice quencher.

This is my first written review so bear with me. When I am looking to buy, I am often looking for something new. Ommegang is one of my favorite breweries, and I generally like the Saison style, so when I saw this beer I immediately grabbed a four pack. I am not sure I can review this beer, or any beer, with the fine detail that I read in other reviews, but here goes: I enjoyed this beer, and will buy it again. The effervescene was refreshing, and I enjoyed the tart finish. My only negative was the floating sediment. Not that I mind it, but it detracts from the overall look. I even tried to pour the second one to reduce that effect. A nice addition to the Ommegany line.

Brewery Ommegang "Saison Rosé"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BESTBY3/11/2021" and sampled on 7/08/2019
$5.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Wow, it's pink, I wasn't expecting that. I guess that makes sense though as it's "co-fermented" with Chardonnay grape juice. Wait, that doesn't make sense, Chardonnay is a white grape. Maybe the color is from some of the wine barrels that once held red wine. Anyway, it's called "rosé" so i should have known better. It's very hazy, and the head is quite full and fine-bubbled with a white color. It smells like fruit. I'm going to say it's like berries more than grapes, but what do I know? There's also a light touch of oakiness. On to the flavor... the flavor follows the aroma as usual with a stronger fruit presence. It's sweetish, a little tart, berry-like, and mildly oaky. The oaky dryness comes out in the finish with some of the yeasty spiciness and it's perfectly balanced. This is fantastic! How strong is it? 7.7% ABV? I don't even notice the alcohol although I'm sure that's helping to dry it in the finish a little bit. In the mouth it's medium in body and effervescently crisp. Overall I'm quite impressed and I'm intending to buy more of this if I can find it.

On tap at Das Beer Garden. Reddish body. Smells floral, fruity, a little medicinal, and of some aggressive yeast that yields a little bubble gum and plastic. Tastes, again, fruity and floral up front. Yeast bitters it quickly. A little grass and medicinal notes. Bubble gum is more pronounced. At first, it was too fruity and medicinal for me, but it turned out ok. That's probably more attributed to the quality Ommegang imparts than the idea of the beer itself.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Appears to have been bottled 4/3/18, with a best by of April 2020, so about halfway through its optimum

Pale reddish pink body with hints of amber. Small white head quickly fizzles out to a ring. No lacing.

Light, airy, floral aroma.

A lot going on in the taste department. Tingly on the tongue, tart and dry. The Saison base comes through nicely, and the abv seems higher than advertised. It's a little floral, fruity and winey. The only thing I'm not getting is any oakiness. Nice drink.

Mouth around medium, finish is fruity, floral and winey with a little warmth.

Overall, a beer to be enjoyed and mulled over. Happy to have another three in the fridge.

-Barrel aged with Chardonnay grape juice.

A: Dark, burnt orange coloring, very dense like clarity, filled with an equally dense amount of carbonation bubbles. A beautiful crown, solid foam, light tan color, is a solid two fingers high shows great resilience. Small lash lacing.

S: Wine like aroma, the grape juice really comes through. Lightly tart, berry like, not a lot of complexity, but very soothing, perfumy and relaxing.

T: Tart and fruity flavor, loads of grape juice and perfumy barrel like tones. Dried cherries and bread, some tart apples, yeasty, with damp grains. Rose water with damp floral and cranberries that is very well defined.

M: Creamy soft mouthful, massaging tiny bubbles on the tongue. Tart and acidic, leaves a pleasant lingering grapey-wheat musky fade.

O: Very smooth and yeasty with a tart and fruity flair drinking like a fine wine. Relaxing consumption, savor the after fell with every sip.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, pinkish color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of hibiscus flowers, yeast and caramel. It tasted sweet with caramel, flowery notes and mild bitterness.

A: The beer is slightly hazy dark rosé in color. It poured with a finger high pink colored head that gradually died down, leaving a short head covering the surface a wide streaks of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of hibiscus flowers are present in the nose along with hints of Belgian yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell and has strong flavors of hibiscus flowers along with hints of green grapes and a light amount of associated sweetness.
M: It feels light to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No dryness is perceptible.
O: This saison is quite "fruity" compared to other beers in the style.

Pours a rose gold color with a beautiful pale pink head. Certainly smells like a white wine. Mouthfeel is thin and fizzy. The saison taste is amplified by the hibiscus, and the Chardonnay grapes add some tartness. Overall a unique twist on a saison. Would recommend.
