A: The beer is close to being jet black in color. It poured with a short beige colored head.
S: Light aromas of vanilla and bourbon are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dark roasted malts with hints of bourbon and vanilla from the barrel aging. The roasted malt flavors linger into the finish.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer drinks very easily for something that is 11% abv as it hides any traces of alcohol from the taste. The only drawback is that the bourbon isn't that prominent in the smell or taste.

Strong roasted flavor (insert House Targaryen dragon reference here), not much barrel, adequate mouthfeel. Got a bottle for now, and one for the GoT premiere. Geeks gotta geek... "and so his review has ended."

Pours jet black into a snifter with a full one finger deep beige head that settles very slowly into a frothy mass atop.Dark roast coffee, vanilla tinged bourbon, and chocolate in the nose, the bourbon doesn't hit you over the head it just lends a nice hand to the aroma profile.A slick easy going down feel, very lightly carbonated, slightly airy?Flavors start out with a bit of toast and bourbon followed by dark roast that lingers with a bit of tootsie roll-like chocolate in the finish.Man this goes down easy....To easy,a very well made barrel aged stout, again the bourbon doesn't have control over everything.

Not coffee, but dark chocolate and dark fruit cordial. Blast of bitter up front, giving way to rich fruit and heavy, blackened malt. Love child of an 80% cocoa bar and Maker's Mark's boozy fruitiness.

Poured from bottle to glass.

Look - Black in color with plenty of foam head.
Smell - so-so notes, not strong or powerful
Taste - has nice smooth flavors but not very strong compared to other stouts.
Feel - easy drinking

Good stout but it’s not as strong and flavorful as others I’ve tried.

Poured from a 25.4 oz (750 ml) bottle into a Tree House snifter glass.
A: Pours a near very dark brown, nearly black, with a two inch, foamy, wheat colored head, modest retention, and somewhat soapy lacing.
S: Aromas of dark roast malts, black coffee, and dark chocolate, but also vanilla and bourbon. Definitely a lactose note.
T: Sweet. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, with dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, and lactose. Would swear this was barrel aged with orange peels, because I swear I can taste the citrus. Nicely balanced bitterness.
M: Full bodied with persistent effervescence. Slight tingling aftertaste.
O: Gorgeous stout. Really a treat. Happy there is a King in the North once more.

A: Pours a fizzy multi-finger head. Dark brown to the point it's almost completely black

S: Definitely barrel aged. The chocolate and espresso smell is lusciously delicious. Just a tint of fruitiness.

T: Dark chocolate, dark roasted espresso, sweet honey biscuit-like maltiness, and a long bourbon barrel finish

O: This is a fantastic imperial stout. Deep, rich, complex. Definitely something to be drunk on a long watch north of the wall. Best of the Game of Thrones series so far, but it has the legs to stand on it's own merits.

Pours a Nights Watch black color with a pillowy chocolate head that quickly settled into a small wall of lacing.

The aroma is sweet from the bourbon and has vanilla notes. Not much from the roast. Pick up some cocoa notes from the malt.

The taste is similar to the nose. Starts off with sweet caramel and vanilla from the bourbon barrel. A wave of dark chocolate comes next followed by a heavy roast flavor. Very much an imperial stout flavor. Almost a burnt like flavor in the finish.

The feel is well bodied with prickly carbonation. Starts sweet on the palate but that quickly gets crushed by the roast bitterness. A bit boozy and sticky in the finish.

As advertised, imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. Aggressive roasted barley bitterness.

From the 750 ml bottle in a snifter. This mighty fine stout pours
a pitch black with a very nice head of tan foam that lingers long and
settles to a thick ring, thick layer, and shows excellent lacing. Nose
of dark chocolate, subtle vanilla, moderate coffee, and subtle dark
fruits with light bourbon notes. Flavors knock it out of the park with
dark coffee over a bed of semi sweet bakers chocolate touched
with light bourbon and dark fruit notes laid on mild vanilla and
earth oak notes. Excellent mouth feel; full body, low carbonation,
and a rich malt driven finish with a touch of herbal and subtle citrus
notes with warmth as well as a warming boozy finish that is lightly

750 ml bottle, looks like a lot date of 10/08/2018 and a best by date of 10/28/2023 printed on the bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like burnt/charred malt, dark fruit, milk and dark chocolate, oak, vanilla, bourbon and some licorice. For the most part I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some bitter earthy flavors. I think the roasty/bitter flavors are stronger compared to the sweet ones, and the barrel character is subtle but still noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, definitely worth a try!

Poured from the bottle into a Ommegang tulip glass.

Real nice looking brew. Creamy forming top that lathers with perfect even fine swiss cheese bubbles. Really nice perfect tan color, fits a good solid two fingers with sheets of lacing. Simpe but solid opaque very dark nearly black body, but a fairly deep red walnut brown color. Great looking brew.

Very complex and subtle aroma. Chewy actual sensing malt with a soft roast that hints nearly of some black licorice. Real nice aromas of whipped chocolate, almost mousse like in flavor on the nose.

Palate takes some real interesting turns. A nearly wet mouthfeel, but at least supportive of some unique and unexpected flavors. Mid palate hits with a bit of light char and licorice, but it's the aftertaste where things really open up. Big amounts of anise and charcoal, mixing with some type of hop like bitterness as well. Clean, and a bit mineral like as well.

Barrel aged? Never would have guessed. While missing rich mouthfeel, a unique Russian imperial flavor.
