Chocolate Indulgence offers a thick tan head of foam resting atop of the rich onyx-hued liquid. The aroma immediately speaks of dark chocolate and dark malts. The gentle herbal notes of perle hops compliments the darker aroma notes, making the beer fully savory to all the senses.

Poured from a cork and cage into a snifter, the beer is a dark black coloring with a tall, frothy, chunky, light tan head. Huge bubbling, with a very decent lacing left behind along the glass. Nose of not much, really, with subtle cocoa and yeast funk. Disappointing. Flavors are subtle cocoa forward, with funky Belgian yeast tang and floral highlights. Subtle sourness atop a building bitter backbone. The body is rich and smooth, with a sweet, rich, slightly roasted aftertaste. The finish is smooth, with a bittersweet linger. I have to admit, I had very high expectations of this.

750 mL corked bottle, into an Allagash goblet

A: Dark brown brew, lightly carbonated, little head or lacing to speak of.

S. Nose of unsweetened cocoa, oak, cherry-like phenols. A little floral at the at the edge of the bouquet.

T/M: More chocolatey on the palate...sweeter here. Some banana-cherry esters play off oaky aspects. Thin, watery for the style.

Brew has held up well over time, but expected more chocolate. This tastes more like an English stout.

Appearance: Clear, dark reddish brown in color, with a prominent off-white head, which retains well. Scattered, fine-beaded lacing adorns the glass walls.

Aroma: Chocolate dipped dark fruit dominates, with notes of solvent alcohol. Bitter cocoa, cold coffee, and dark berries are present, as well.

Taste: Dark chocolate, and dark fruit dominate from start to finish, as with the aroma. Strong notes of spicy, sweet alcohol underlie the taste throughout; the alcohol is quite warming. Cold coffee comes through late in the taste, as do notes of wood, vanilla, and subtle figs. The finish is quite dry.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, soft, and pleasant, quite full.

Drinkabilty/notes: With its chocolate notes, it seems more than appropriate for Easter.

Presentation: Packaged in a 500ml Belgian-style brown glass bomber bottle, sealed with a cork and cage, served in a South American-style Pilsener glass.

From the bottle of indeterminate age, it pours a dark brown with a modest light tan head that slowly dissipates and leaves lacing. Scent includes chocolate, dark malt and alcohol. Taste follows nose, deliciously.

750mL corked bottle bb July 2017 (6 months ago) poured into a Ommegang signature glass at fridge temp 7% ABV. The beer pours dense dark brown with no highlights and brown head. The aroma is rather strong with dark chocolate and roast malt. The taste is more dark chocolate and some fairly bitter dark malts. This could have to do with age. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and somewhat dry in the finish. There is a weird battle between the sweetness and bitterness in this beer. Again, not going to be over critical due to age. Overall, ok. Bought this is a gift set with two other bottles and a glass at about half price.

Pours a very dark brown with a half inch tan head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Smells and tastes of dark chocolate and roasted malts with a hind of coffee. Light bodied for a stout, really more like a porter, smooth mouth feel, creamy, minimal carbonation.
