Draught @ BTAH, into tulip.
Pours a cloudy dark brownish-orange, with an almost-nonexistent off-white head.
Nose is fruity, a bit musty. Kind of faint.
Taste begins with a musty, fruity note - mixed berries and barnyard, a hint of fruity tartness. Yeast coming out in the mustiness. Softly sour fruit comes out more along with a nice, sweet caramel malt note poking through. Bit of lactic sourness as well. Spicy, yeasty finish, still musty, with an earthy herbal hop note that lends itself to a very light lingering bitterness. Got a hint of something else on the finish too - almost mustardy?
Medium body, subdued carbonation, somewhat viscous. Very drinkable.
The combination of musty funk, fruity, malt, and hop notes really lends some complexity. Would be nice to try a version of this with a bit more age to let the Brett really come through, but I don't say that to detract from what this beer is. Because as it is, it's a nice beer.
