Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a hazy burnt yellow color with a light ruddy orange color. Rimmed with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Messy lace ends up becoming stringy. The aroma starts off with some citrus, tropical and grassy hops. Some hay and then lemongrass accompany very nicely. Belgian sugars and a light breadiness. The flavor brings about that Belgian sweetness nicely and rolling into those previously mentioned hops. Belgian malty sweet aftertaste with a touch of spice blend to form the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good. Nicely executed smooth to bitter agreement on my tongue. Overall, nicely done Belgian pale ale with a refreshing American hoppy twist. I would have again.

Not sure if I got a bad bottle. Pours a nice slightly hazy copper with a lasting, clingy cream-colored head. Unfortunately, that's about the only thing to like. Lemon and pepper on the nose, this smells like something I don't want to taste. Speaking of which, this doesn't taste good. Slightly more malt presence, but still pronounced sour and acidic, it tastes like heartburn. Finish is reasonably clean.

My copy of BPA is not current. So it is hard to rate this given the quality I expect from Ommegang, particularly for its yeast.
The hops carry BPA's flavor, but they linger a bit too long for me in the finish.
I would like to try BPA again. Does anyone know if BPA will be released again.... or ever make it to Chicagoland ?
I've not been able to determine if this was concluded as an experiment and the recipe was modified and came out with another name. Who knows?

Poured into a tulip glass.
A: Opaque burnt gold with a white one finger head that held on. Thick-as-hell lacing.
S: Fruity esters featuring bananas and lemons with a pinch of clove. Bready malts. Belgian Yeast.
T: Follows nose with a smooth rush of Belgian funk, bready malts and bananas.
M: Medium with carbonation to kill for. It literally fizzes on the tongue.
O: A great BPA from those awesome folks in New York. You can't go wrong with Ommegang.
