I had a suspicion I'd love this one. Golden color and produces a huge head when poured. It is a bit sweet at first with yeasty notes. In the after taste you get a bit more of the hops. Nice mouth feel, medium bodied. And of course the Alcohol is hidden well and hits you a bit unexpectantly :)

Golden color with a bit of haze and white head. Aroma has a nice, floral yeast profile with some candi sugar in the background. Taste starts on the sweet side, slightly sugary, yeasty with earthy farmhouse notes, some dusty hops with medium bitterness on the finish and lingers on the aftertaste. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite atypical for the style. ABV is hidden really well and it has a nice mouthfeel, makes the beer easy drinking.

This is like La Chouffe with a kick - blond, effervescent with a nice cleansing (not cloying) mouthfeel... Extremely drinkable - it is amazing how quickly the four-pack disappears!

A- pours medium clear blonde with a big foam head that quickly disperses
S- sweet fruify notes, pungent but pleasant aroma
T- slight maltiness, a great example of a blond ale. Very smooth with a lot of yeast and alcohol punch as well
M- medium-bodied, lots of carbonation, alcohol bite
O- having this classified as a Belgian strong pale ale is more appropriate than 'blond ale', definitely one of my new favorites in the category. Will definitely pick up more.

Poured a golden copper color in a tulip with a 4F head which subsided after a few minutes.

Great aroma: spice, clove.

The MF gives the beer a lot of character: very spicy bitterness.

Taste: clove, spice, a hint of raisin.

Overall, one of my current favorites from Ommegang. Excellent balance of flavor and MF.
This is a strong Ale, light in color, deep in flavor and MF.

12oz bottle into libbey tulip
BB 6/2017 I had this sitting in the cellar for about 8-9 months
L- pours a hazy dark blonde with a huge foam head, leaving tons of lacing
S- sweet malty notes, green apple, pungent yeasty aroma
T- slight malt, this is where i would call it the "Blonde Ale" from the label, however what follows is a lot of yeast with some alcohol warmth as well
F- medium-bodied, lots of carbo, alcohol bite
O- not my favorite rendition of the style(belgian strong pale ale), but not too bad either

Pours a lightly hazy pale orange in color with a finger of dense, long lasting white head. Its a beautiful beer. Aroma showcases some spicy hops but has tons of yeast phenols that evoke clove and some light fruity esters that are reminiscent of banana and pear. The taste is focused on the yeast character once again with the same esters and phenols as the aroma. Good mouthfeel, medium-high+ carbonation with a medium body. Overall an excellent beer that was very enjoyable to drink. If I'm rating this strictly as a Belgian blond ale then I'd say that the yeast character is far too expressive and the alcohol is too high. If I'm simply drinking this beer for pleasure then I'd say the prominent yeast character makes this a fun beer to drink.

Picked up a single on a whim at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. Didn't realize it is a now aged once off at 9.5%. I picked this to be my first course in a night of celabratory drinking for playof baseball. I have to start listening to those nagging doubts.

Huge white head is going nowhere. Big golden body with plenty of carbonation and sedfiment. Some really big chunks are visible. Nose is Belgian yeast, appleskin, and bread malts. Definitely a bit sour but otherwise its a high abv Belgian pale. Not a ton of hop flavor but certainly has some octane. Relatively smooth and drinkable but I am likely to have a hangover tomorrow.

A: Thick one-finger, off-white head, lots of lace, hazy golden body.

S: Abundant and appropriate belgian candy-fruit shop with papaya, mango, pineapple, crackers, herbal, bandaid glue, mint, spicy alcohol and yeasty esters.

T: Candy store abundance, estery alcohol, creamy pale maltiness, white peppery hoppiness, atop orange peel, Drum tobacco, yeast, orchard overripe fruit. Nice melange, varied, balanced.

F: Creamy, just a tinge cloying, more alcohol, phenolic, and semi-dry finish.

Flavor packed, A true Belgian, and a happy beer. Makes one happy.

12oz bottle. Code dating is faded and indiscernible. Appearance: Golden and mostly clear, with some floating sediment and a frothy white head that dissipated fairly quickly. Aroma: Fruity esters abound. Pear dominates, with some banana, clove, and apple. Also pick up a touch of alcohol. Taste: Rich malt sweetness, very fruity with pear most prominent, some banana, low spicing, a light bitterness and a strong, almost solvent like alcohol. Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, moderately high carbonation. Strong alcohol warming. Finish: Very dry. Fruity alcohol esters linger well after the swallow. Overall: Has the typical Belgian Strog Ale characteristics with fruity esters, sweet maltiness, and high carbonation. This differs in that the alcohol comes across a little too strong, with some heat and solvent like character that harms the overall balance of the beer.

Ommegang Gnomegang, 9.5% ABV, 26 IBU, style is belgian strong pale ale. Pours medium thickness, golden, with a huge foamy head that lingered and left lots of lacing. Nose is lemon and yeast, taste follows, slight bitter close. Good mouthfeel. Overall OK, can't call it a new favorite.

Poured into a chalice: color is gold, fairly effervescent with flecks of yeast mixing around; head is off white with mostly fine bubbles, nice lacing on the glass.

Smell is steeped in aromatic yeast notes: apricot, banana, pleasant phenols and light booziness. Also some light earthiness and subtle malt sweetness.

Taste is more emphatic presentation of the flavors in the aroma: big yeast off notes from apricot, banana, phenol and ester, all well balanced against one another. Malt is noticeable in light sweetness, but the spicy yeast notes overtake and linger very well. Strength of this ale is hidden fairly well, but the sweetness and light dryness hint at its strength.

Mouthfeel is very good: nice full flavor, great strength and presentation on the tongue and nice lingering qualities.

Overall, a very very good blonde/strong pale ale in the belgian style. Great yeast dominant flavors and lingering flavor with hidden strength.

It sometimes seems they can do no wrong at Brewery Ommegang. Another success, this is certainly one of the finest American made blonde ales I've had. Pours a hazy, golden color with a stiff, lacy big head. Taste is sweet, but not overly so like many blondes. Hints of fruit and clove. Just a damn fine beer.

On-tap 6/3/2016 at Boundary Brewhouse in Pawtucket, RI, served in a snifter glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, light caramelized malts, alcohol, some fruit and some hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character followed by some sweet flavors of caramel, bananas, citrus and spices. The hops presence is good for the style and brings a good balance. There’s a touch of an alcohol sting. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, strong kick, good representation of style, it’s a bit boozy but it’s still a decent beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

A- light yellow with tints of orange. A huge 4 finger fluffy head makes me stop my pour and it leaves a gorgeous lacing on the inside of the pint.

S- strong banana notes with hints of citrus hops that come through. Finally, grain rounds it out.

F- strong grain and banana and that is it.

M- alcohol and warm belgian ale as it goes down.

O- A good brew and strong. A sipper but dont take too long with it.

There wasn't much of a pop from the cork, but it pours a pretty orange color, somewhat hazy, & a lovely white head. Citrus & grain dominate the aroma. The initial banana & fruity sweetness is followed with a slight bitter finish. The 9.5 % is hidden from both taste & smell. Excellent

Wow! Loving this beer. A great cloudy golden color with lacing and big head. The taste is very tight. I smell and taste package of sour citrus, bread, and slight spices (even though the description says no spice). Every sip elicits a reaction - it doesn't get boring. More carbonation than expected and it gives it a fresh feeling. The 9.5% packs a punch but not over powering in any way in terms of taste. I feel like I could drink this in the middle of winter or summer. This reminds me of La Fin de Monde. My favorite Ommegang yet which is saying a lot.

Great pour ( a somewhat hazy deep orange color) with exceptional head retention into an oversized wine glass. Beautiful color, moderate smell. A solid attempt at the style.

A - Golden color with plenty of visible carbonation. 1 inch off-white head. Nice lacing
S - Cloves and tropical fruits. Pretty spicy and yeasty. Inviting
T - pretty complex. Alcohol is present along with the Belgium spiciness and yeastines. Getting some banana on the finish
M - moderate carb. Bit of a boozy bite
O - Ommegang is yet to disappoint me. Happy to have them and allagash putting out excellent Belgium style beers in the US. Chèers.

Appearance - body is a golden straw hue with white head

Smell - pear, apricot, peach, belgian yeast

Taste - very good here, pear, peach, apricot, green apple, clove

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium plus carbonation, sweet upfront from the tropical like fruits (pear, apricot), back end is the aftertaste from the belgian yeast

Overall - this is a very nice take on a Belgian ale, that is easy drinking. Worth a try

Price Point - $9.99/4 pack 12 ounce bottles

12oz bottle poured into a Leffe chalice. Best by 11/2017.

L: Pours a hazy gold with a substantial, creamy white head. Effervescent. Head recedes to a fairly thin layer of foam. Some scattered, splotchy lacing.

S: Wheat, earthiness, pepper, an underlying sweetness- La Chouffe's yeast is quite prominent. Spicy, with some underlying fruitiness of the light variety, such as apple and grape.

T: Apple, pear, grape - quite estery. wheat, bread, spiciness, a slight hint of caramel, and a lingering earthy bitterness that is fairly tame.

F: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and creamy, with a slight bite from the carbonation. The finish dries over time.

O: Very nice. Drinks very well for it's ABV (largely undetectable) and packs plenty of complexity in it's flavor profile. Recommended.

Fizzy carbonation and a light yellow color make this a pretty beer. The high abv does show up in the aftertaste. Complex flavors. As it warms, the flavor mellows. Spices and slight banana.

Absolutely freakin' phenomenal! My favorite beer of 2015, and so far 2016 (it's February). Great taste, great drinkability, true belgian-style flavors and smells, and a huge booze-punch! WOOHOO!
