In Greek mythology, Aphrodite rises from the foam of the waves of the sea, enchanting all who see her, and inciting thoughts of love and lust wherever she goes.

We could hardly say it more eloquently. Our Limited Edition Aphrodite Ale is ethereal, intriguing and mysterious – as the Goddess Aphrodite must have been. Aphrodite has champagne-like carbonation, much as the foam of the waves of the sea. Plus enchanting flavors with whispers of raspberry and pear, and hints of funk and tartness created by the Brett yeast. The refreshing dryness comes from the unusual combination of Ommegang and Brett yeasts, and incites feelings of love, though we don't know about lust. Grains of paradise are infused into the nectar, and when poured Aphrodite is crowned with a luxuriously shimmering rose-pink head.

Delicious. It's been a lot of years since I had it, but I recall it being a refreshing drink with a great pour and smell. I wish they would brew this again - I'd buy several cases.

Opted for a tulip due to ABV, so Im assuming this is an imperial fruit beer. The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange color with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a cap of a little white foamy head. Mild lace. The aroma had some cherry skin, raspberry flesh, pear, grassiness, light lemon, touch of herbal and floral character all coinciding with the funky to tart to Brett-sour quality. Light rosehips, some hay and a little bit of basement flow in underneath. The flavor brought all of the prior mentioned aromas together - sweetly to bitter to sour and funky. Aftertaste was moderately sour, sweet and funky. Finish was quick with the sour and funk. The palate was about medium bodied with a sturdy sipping quality about it. ABV was felt but not burdensome. Carbonation felt fine. Overall, very nice imperial fruit ale that I would welcome again.

L: Pours ruby tinted brown with a thin tan film on top. S: Smells like cherries with a little funk to back them up.
T: Cherry, spice, dark moist cake, over ripe fruit funk, lemony tartness, bitter hop accent on the finish.
F: Medium body with above average carbonation. Faint warming.
O: A big beer with a complex mix of flavors.

Sampling a cellar temp corked and caged bottle poured into a snifter. The bottle says packaged in 2011. SHouldnt be an issue reading a little about this beer.
It pours a slightly hazy chestnut color with some blush wine highlights and a fizzy rose wine colored head of 2.5 cm foams up very easily with a gentle pour. the head recedes quickly to a sturdy surface layer. The color is appealing and definitely catches my eye as it enters the glass.
Aroma is a little bit of musty blanket and some light sweet fruit sort of like cranberries.
First sip is tangy and a little tart and there is very fine tingly carbonation. the body is average thickness and crisp on each swallow.
Flavor is what the nose advertises tart fruit and some musty funk, finish is dry but does leave some pear flavors on my tongue after the swallow. I dont get any hops or booze on this beer and it is quite an interesting complex offering. I would definitely buy another bottle if found one.
