ommegang collaboration with the blue tusk pub in syracuse, ny. released december 15th 2011, only 20 logs brewed, about 100 gallons. great introduction party! pours a deep copper brassy color with a red hue, massive ommegang signature head. 10 bucks for a small tulip glass, still deciding if its worth that price. smells fruity and mildly hoppy, billed as a tripel ipa, not sure if it meets that criteria, but definitely a sweeter hop brew, piney in flavor and a killer hop aftertaste. mouthfeel was alive and smooth. yeasty in the finish. i hope this gets some popular support and they keep brewing it because its excellent. head to the tusk to try it before its too late!

10oz pour from the tap into a Duvel Tulip at the Blue Tusk in Syracuse.

A: Crystal Clear deep copper color with a 2 finger rocky pure white head that disappears slowly. As the glass empties, it is coated with sticky thick lacing.

S: Strong bready malt presence with a lot of interesting hop smells going on as well. Hard to put a finger on just what kind of hops went into this one. Smells way different than Ommegang's BPA from what I recall. The malts are more complex and the hops are more biting.

T: Malts and hops do a flip flop from the smell to the taste with the hops shining through first followed strongly by a nice malt back end. Yeast notes shine through more in the flavor than in the nose and they are a welcome addition to the rest of the flavors in the beer. ABV is non-existent in the flavor.

M: Medium-big body. Thick, creamy mouthfeel with perfect carbonation.

O: A really really good beer. I find myself liking Belgian IPAs more and more lately and this is one of the better of the bunch I've had. At $1 per ounce it's extremely price but is definitely one that I'm glad I was able to try.
