Very Good
SeductionSeduction
Notes: Ommegang Seduction is lovingly brewed with six dark malts. Chocolatier Callebut provides the chocolate, while Liefmans brings the cherries. This international romance is consummated with a full body, alluring aromas and flavors of Belgian chocolate, and tart cherries. Seduction is an ale to be lovingly embraced.

Beautiful, rich and smooth, roasty and malty throughout, Seduction offers balanced chocolate-cherry notes, a bit of caramel sweetness, and a long, slow finish. Seduction is welcoming and warm-hearted, gently hopped and harbors no bitterness, leaving only a lingering glow.

Review #500!!

A- This comes in a very heavy glass bottle with a cork and cap system in place....very masculine! The beer is heavily dark in color....super brown and almost black to be exact. The head is thick and dense at first before settling into a generous layer over the brew....it is velvety smooth looking! Lacing is superb as thick layers of foam coat the side of my glass and becomes very sticky as it attempts to fight gravity...artistic looking for sure. What a nice looking Ale!

S- Just what it says it is....dark chocolate blended with wild tart cherries....it is very much like rich black forest cake in smell! Additional hints of licorice, dark fresh cocoa, very toasty malt and even a little funk....almost turning rummy! Super nice and not overly complex, but what is on the nose is done well!

T- The flavors follow the aromas rather closely, but more in reverse order...sweet and sour cherries is what I taste right away, followed by semi sweet chocolate, licorice tones, dark fruits, slight dark roast coffee, coconut infused cocoa, creamy yeast and some Belgian funk. Delicious and well balanced between sweet and sour!

M/O- Medium/full bodied, velvety smooth carbonation and with lots of flavor. This is a well rounded brew that is meant for aging and it is easily drinkable...my bottle was brewed Dec 2011....probably right where it is at its best in my opinion. I hope this one comes out again sometime and well worth the wait!

Served from a corked and caged 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Nick. Thanks for sharing! Poured into a tulip glass.

A: Dark brown on the pour, looking densely black sitting in the glass. A huge foamy, fluffy tan colored head dissipated somewhat quickly, but did leave some nice clinging lace around the glass. This seems signature Ommegang, well carbonated by the looks of things.

S: Dark chocolate, roasted dark malts, caramel, spice, cherry flesh and a overall sweet fruitiness towards the back. I get everything the bottle says, namely the chocolate and cherry they are quick to point out. Nothing is overwhelming though the cherry could be a bit more pronounced to compete with the rich roasted malt aromas.

T: Bakers dark chocolate is instantly coating the palate, along with some robust malt qualities. Certainly some roasted notes and coffee beans mid-palate with the cherries trying to come in towards the back end. They struggle and struggle, but it's not enough to make a pronounced appearance on the flavor. In this regard, it's a bit of a let down though you do get some of it.

M: Highly carbonated, not fizzy and it does retain a nice feeling body. Bubbles on the palate gives it a nice smoothness.

I thought this was pretty good. Some of the others who sampled with me thought it wasn't as good, but I enjoyed the combination of flavors. I do wish like everyone else that the cherry came out a bit more to compete with the dominant roasted/chocolate malt flavors. Good beer, but a bit overpriced ($15.99 here) for what you get, in my opinion.

A - Poured to a dark brown almost black color with a half finger of light brown head.
S - Tart, acidic, dark cherries upfront followed by a very roasty malt. Medium sweet chocolate and light hints of caramel and coffee follow at the end.
T - Delicious. Medium sweet and tart black cherries, warm roasty malt, medium sweet chocolate and lightly sweet cappuccino at the end. Amazingly smooth and medium/fall bodied. Perfect winter sipping beer to be sure.
O - A five star porter. One of the best porters I've ever had in my life. I strongly urge you to try it if you can get your hands on it.
V - Very worth it.

Enjoyed in a Duvel Tulip glass

A: Pours an extremely dark and deep black with more than two fingers worth of very fine bubbled mocha colored head that lingers for an extremely long time and leaves a ton of very fine lacing in rings around the glass
S: chocolate and coffee malts and possibly a small amount of licorice
T: nice smooth chocolate malts in the beginning with a nice depth then it moves into a dark section in the middle with a slight coffee malt character, at the end the Belgian yeast comes straight through and a slight dark chocolate not lingers on the mouth afterwards
M: medium carbonation tingle, drinks thin but leaves a kind of thick feeling on the palate like dry chocolate
O: what ive come to expect from my friends over at ommegang, a great tasting brew with an extremely high quality note, its a nice one
