Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale.
Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

Hazy yellow color with white head and some yeast sediment. Aroma has floral yeast esters with some hay, meadow flowers and citrus fruits. Taste follows with floral yeast, slightly sweet at first with some wheat notes, light grassybitterness on the finish. Medium body with smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a really nice hoppy Belgian ale.

"Best by April 2017"; drank 8/1/16 @ the Yarchives.
Nearly opaque dark yellow appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
A rough pour yielded a HUGE eggshell head (careful pouring!); strong, frothy lace.
Dandelion, banana & mild pineapple notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Dandelion & pineapple flavors up front; banana & mild clove dryness on the finish.
A touch too much clove on the finish for me, but overall a nice brew. I'd have another.

Too sweet it overpowers the beer. Floral and cherry notes left for an aftertaste. I suppose a good Christmas beer or feminine beer. Not my style but well crafted.

Almost light and airy enough to be close to witbier territory. Cloudy orange gold with a small fizzy head. Light floral hoppy aroma. Taste is equal parts floral, malt, hops, lavender, coriander. Dry finish.

I was meeting some people at Dominion Pizza this afternoon, following school, when I spotted this one in their mix-a-six cooler. We are all big hockey fans so it got a laugh when I said that it put me in mind of a couple of goalies: Marc-Andre Fleury & Nikolai Khabibulin. Time for a bottle of beer!

Their directions seem a bit contradictory, but I fully agreed with a slow, gentle pour as I could see the yeast sediment (lees) on the punt of the bottle. However, vigor seems counterintuitive when I can simply conduct an in-glass swirl for the same effect. It did not matter in this case as it formed just over a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with great retention all on its own. Color was a pretty Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, calling forth The Gelt Gang of Midas, Croesus & Mammon for a taste. Nose had the typical Belgian yeast mustiness, like old newspapers discovered in the attic, but imbued with a lemony biscuitiness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but very bubbly and carbonated. The taste was spot-on for the style: very dry, kind of spicy, but akin to a Noble-hopped Pilsener. Man, this would be fantastic on a hot, humid summer's day! The finish was also quite dry, with a lingering biscuitiness and a yeastiness that left me licking my lips in anticipation of my next sip.

The appearance was a nice looking light to clear yellow color with a good transparency about it. The head was quick and dissipating into barely nothing. Lacing left a lot to be desired. The smell was absolutely spectacular as it had a superb grassy / sweet to lemon bursting citrus hops. The taste was sweet, light grassy, light sweet lemon bursting into sweet orange juice - like character. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a superb sessionability about it. Carbonation was extremely smooth. Overall, really nice Belgian pale ale, well worthy to have again.
