Style: Belgian Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.80%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale.

Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

Served in pint glass around 45 degrees

Appearance: nice golden color with 2 finger head that stayed through out. nice lacing.

Smell: This is where I am confused. I got a hefe character but there was some melon sweetness with some malt. Huh? Is this a hefe or this an ale? Banana, clove

Taste: clean with more banana coming through with a dry finish.

Mouthfeel: good carbonation medium bodied.

Overall: Very disappointing as I did not get any ale character. If this was labeled as a german hefe, I would have given it high marks because it drunk like one. Won't get again.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a bright yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of yeast, some fruits. Taste is malts, yeast, some fruitiness, a bit of hops, refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a smooth and enjoyable beer.

A slightly cloudy pale straw in the glass, and if you look close what appears to be fine suspended yeast. Noticeable medium carbonation makes this an attractive and inviting looking beer. The nose is immediate and strongly of clove. Crisp and refreshing, it tastes of clove and maybe a hint of vanilla and wheat. A truly original experience for me.
