"Øl" meaning "beer" & "tella" short for "Nutella," bourbon barrel-aged and THICCC this decadent stout hits you with hazelnut, vanilla & cacao in one single blow. A deeply rich stout aged for about one year in Elijah Craig 12 year bourbon barrels then given the Nutella-treatment with hazelnut, vanilla & cacao.

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice motor oil black with no real head but amazing legs. Like they're painted on.

S - Aromas of big boozy bourbon, light nutty hazelnut, flashes of chocolate. As it warms it gets really harsh almost raw alcohol. The nuts and chocolate drop off too leaving just hot alcohol and almost stale dark malts.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of hazelnuts and chocolate. Definitely drinks like melted down nutella. The alcohol is hidden nicely with great bourbon juice and sweeter vanilla. The taste delivers big time with the hazelnuts and chocolate.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden very very well. Not harsh but you definitely know and feel that it's double digits.

O - Overall this was a very solid imperial stout. The hazelnuts are just crazy, reminds me what Jackie O's was doing in 2011/12 with the level of nuttiness. Really good.

Thanks to rudzud
No head but pours like motor oil thick, big long thick legs, pitch black as night

Nose starts with roasted coffee milk and hazelnuts, candy like, sweet bourbon and vanilla barrel, bitter cocoa powder and a little alcohol boozy, more it warms and more I swirl boozy fusel alcohol, weird oxidized stale bread

Taste brings thick heavy syrupy malts, dark roasty malts with a little char, big hazelnuts and general nutty, then big cocoa, dark chocolate, bitter roast and char, mild bourbon and little barrel juice with vanilla both barrel and raw, chewy cocoa dark choc

Mouth is thicker chewy heavy fuller bod, little lush medium lighter carb, some warming alcohol

Overall started weak finished strong, tasty beer that smells a little too boozy and off

To this day Cakewalk is the greatest beer I've ever tasted. The only thing placing Øl Tella below it is a relative lack of complexity. This one distills down to Nutella, except it opens your sinuses and gets you drunk. That's what this is. It's otherworldly.

2018 release. I'd heard rumors that this bottle is falling off - I did not, however, find that to be the case.

BA Øl Tella pours surprising thick and viscous. It's deep, sweet, rich, and flavorful. The thickness of the pour does not quite translate to the mouth feel and taste, but it's still very rich. Taste notes include a load of chocolate, and just a bit less forward are the hazelnut notes. Both are incredibly accurate to the adjuncts and very good.

This is the very first Pulpit Rock beer since Stick Shock that has lived up to the hype for me. I picked up this bottle in a trade, and had just recently began to wonder whether I shouldn't have made that trade - but I'm feeling pretty happy with it right now. I'm looking forward to 2019's release - this beer is tremendously good.
