Notes:
Since 2015, Pulpit Rock has honored the craft of brewing

Built out of an old dairy facility and originally situated next to a laundromat, Pulpit Rock Brewing opened its bay doors during the summer of '15. Founded by four Luther alumni, fueled by two head-brewers and driven by a small taproom team (and the occasional volunteer), this modest brewery embraces the opportunity to produce and serve exciting and innovative beers.

With a rotating tap list that balances classic styles, unabashed hop-enthusiasm and adventurous flavor-infusions, we aim to provide our guests with a spectrum of tastes and experiences.

I most recently visited Pulpit Rock for the Fat Joe release. I recognize - this may not be particularly representative of what an average visit to the site may be... but hey, maybe it will be beneficial to future visitors for releases.

I've been to Pulpit Rock several times now - for the releases of Gallagher, Fat Joe, and also just for a few beers. It's far more typical of a standard bar than your given brewery. Seating is quite limited in doors, but there is a very nice, spacious patio. Don't expect that to be open for shares during releases though.

For the Fat Joe release, there was a nice little heated tent that was open all night long. Yes, all night - because that's how long you'll want to be there to get bottles! The tent was claustrophobic and far too cramped, but everyone on-site was very friendly and happy to share.

Lighting in Pulpit Rock could really use a little help - it's just not sufficient. Selection is decent, though not tremendously varied. I'd sure love more crowlers for take-home consumption as well. And while my review does not sound glowing, I like Pulpit Rock and, honestly, find it quite a lot easier to recommend for breweries in Decorah now that that TG has packed up for a new location. How much easier and more convenient is Pulpit Rock now? I give them credit there - I hope they plan on staying for the duration - I really enjoy the location, minus the parking situation.

Stopped in after the Oktoberfest party on Saturday night. Parking is available next to the tap room. U-shaped bar with seating, and more seating adjacent on one side, more patio seating outside with a couple of table umbrellas. Tap room fronts on Luther College Drive, easy to find. About ten taps, with most Pulpit Rock but some guest beers. Good selection across beer types. Cool, competent bartenders, who did not ask if this is the "first time here". TV was showing the playoff baseball game. Intelligent rock mix on audio. "Square" used for check out. Space is inviting, well use of space.

What should be a quaint little bar with some overflow seating and a nice little patio turned into the hot spot of Decorah in no time flat when the masses descended up Iowa for MD weekend. They weren't entirely able to handle the crowd, but did their best to rope off an area for those waiting for bottles, while those just wanting drafts were able to hang on the patio.

The bar is a U-shape and the taplist is about 10 strong, with a nice variety of styles, all aimed at the modern trends--hazy IPA, fruit packed neon-hued Berliner, and pastry stouts. The beers are nicely dialed in and beautiful, all served in Instagram ready glassware.

This place knows exactly what it's going for, but can Decorah support it when the beer geek herd isn't around?

Small taproom located in downtown Decorah. Horseshoe bar with a few tables and a small patio area. There are board games and no food on premise.

I actually like the atmosphere here a little more than up the road at Toppling Goliath. When all the taps are flowing, they have a great selection. Have been there a couple times when a few taps were out, but still had some great beers.

Visited on a weekday afternoon, when people should be working, and there were a lot of people daydrinking. The beer list is large and varied and very good. The people are friendly, we got to strike up a conversation with one of the brewers and had a nice discussion. There's a large outdoor patio and a good sized bar inside.

Fuck wasting your time at Toppling Goliath. Go to a real brewery like Pulpit and have yourself great beers at a great spot. Chill employees and chill brews. Oh, they actually brew their beers onsite as well.

This was a cool smaller brewery right by the other well known one. It was more cozy and pretty laid back, seemed like more locals and regulars hanging out. There were some patio tables outside, with the garage doors up it almost felt more like a beachside cantina than a brewery.

They do pre-filled crowlers and growler certain drafts but not all. Flights of 4 and 6 offered. Good range of styles with the Koffee Kolsch and Saftig IPA being standouts. Solid quality on all the beers I tried as well.

Service was good but the lone employee seemed a bit rushed. I got a crowler to go and signed for it, but didn't get my card back. Partly my fault since I was in a hurry too.

Overall i'd definitely return the next time i'm passing through Decorah.
