16oz tallboy can, comp sample from the brewey.

A beautiful rusitc lager, lots of toasted grain and spicy herbal hops. Decent clarity with a tight white head on top. Exceptionally drinkable and clean throughout. One of the most impressive fest lagers brewed in the US, seek this beer out!!!

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a light to amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles that covered most of the surface, a narrow collar around the edge, and a little lacing on the bottom sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of toasted malts are present in the nose along with hints of spicy hops.
T: The taste has flavors of toasted malts, which are balanced off with strong notes of spicy hops.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This Oktoberfest has an interesting balance between the malts and the spicy hops so it doesn't seem as malty compared to other beers in the style.

Pours a clear copper color with a creamy tan head. Nose has noble hops and spicy malt notes. Wow.

The spicy malt notes introduce themselves as spicy rye malt on the taste, and the noble hops welcome them to the party. An excellent example of the style, IMHO.

Dark gold pour, not quite clear, decent dollop of white fluff that relaxes to a lasting cap and thick bubbled ring.

Mmm, nice, brown sugar, caramel, and a spice aroma similar to cinnamon are the main players in this med./full strength aroma. A grainy sweet underlays it and some rooty, herbal aspects also are there.

Lightly toasted grainy sweet and well balanced spicy notes lead the taste parade that includes all the flavors of the bouquet. Very complex, there are more roasty notes here too, layers of spice, a nutmeg-like flavor, even some earthy pepper notes. The sweet is done with a deft hand, it is just enough to power the sip but never to the point the sip seems to be sweet. As it warms some slight tart notes, maybe from the yeast, or rye, make this into something beyond a marzen. It all comes together in a sip that ends with every aspect asserting influence. Delicious.

Very full bodied, yet super soft on palate, very well carb.'ed that borders on being over carb.ed, refreshing, clean flavors, killer finsh.

Not your father's festbier, mein freund. Absolutely stellar version that is bold, complex, interesting, delicious, and refreshing. Highly recommended

Canned on 8/23/2018. Poured from 16 oz. can into seidel. It pours a hazy, honey-amber color with two fingers of long-lasting, creamy, bright white head and lots of lacing inside the glass. The nose features brown bread, rye, spice, and just a hint of caramel. The taste opens dry, burnt, and decidedly bitter with notes of burnt rye toast, pumpernickel, hint of sweet caramel, pepper and spice. The Brewer's Gold and Mt. Hood hops are flavorful and bitter but without a strong bite. The taste has a lot more character than a typically sweet, caramel festbier. For the style, it's mouth feel is rich and creamy, with pleasant carbonation, and the slightly higher than typical 6.1% ABV gives it a nice character. Overall, this is a first rate American Märzen with a big, bold taste and lots of character. Most other Festbiers will seem rather pedestrian.
