Murkey hazy pale yellow look in the pint glass. A decent pale white head and lace that lingers as you gulp. Wheaty sweet nose. Big banana and bubblegum taste with sweet wheat malt dominance. Medium coating mouth. A nice solid weissbier... very solid and drinkable. I had this at the Austrian village restaurant and just kept drinking it all night. It also went quite well with their awesome smothered pork chops and spatzel.

12oz bottle at Pizza Brew in Calgary.

This beer pours a clear, medium copper amber hue, with one fat finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy off-white head, which leaves little beyond a low berm of surface tension lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of gritty wheat grain, mild cloves, dried banana chips, and a bit of rather musty earthy hops. The taste is big on the dry banana character up front, followed by a wan grainy wheatiness, muddled earthy spice, and a certain wet cardboard mustiness.

The carbonation is soft, and mostly just plainly frothy, the body a decent medium weight, and a bit tacky in its otherwise unassailed smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the wheatiness predominating, with a bit of yeasty banana essence lingering behind.

If this was indeed brewed in Monroe, WI, by you-know-who, then those German overseers did a bang-up job protecting their brand from the usual shoddy, flim-flamming contract brewing that seems to occur there. Kind of a shame that it's only available at this tied house, at least in Alberta.

Comes in a hefty brown half-liter bottle with a picturesque label featuring the snow covered Bavarian countryside. Purity law, of course. Best before 10/22/04, I opened it on 2/9/04.

Pours cloudy yellow under a thick one finger head that sticks around quite a while but musters no lace. The nose is outstanding: strong, fresh and spicey sweet - just what a wheat beer should have. The mouth is very prickly, light and sweet. The taste is good: smooth coriander and cinnamon wheat, with a touch of citrus. There are very, very little hops here. The aftertaste is sweet and spicey, with just a hint of barley malt buried deep down inside. This is a very good rendition of the style.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains wheat, bananas, caramelized malts and touches of hops and citrus.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. Then some sweet flavors of caramel, bananas and citrus come in. The hops presence is very mild but brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it’s a not a bad beer but there are several others in the style that I would choose first.

A: Very little haze, golden-yellow; fluffy white head, nice lace, but not much retention.

S: Bready, slight citrus (lemon and orange).

T: Bready, slight lemon, slightly grassy/earthy, very light hint of banana in ithe aftertaste. Not very wheaty. It tastes fine, but doesn't have the hefe or many fruity esters either. The relatively low score is manly due to style expectations.

M: Light to moderate body is creamy, with a slightly acidic finish. Light to moderate carbonation.

D: Quite drinkable.

500 ml bottle with rescrewable top. Hazy gloden colour, pours a good head that vanishes too soon, not without leaving a good lace. First thing I smelled was wet earth, oddly for the style. Some spices, the usual banana, clove or coriander are very hidden. In the mouths is dry, I can feel the wet eargh touch but also banana is easy to notice, with some vanilla and citrus. I like it, even being a rare beer for the style.

A slightly opaque orange-gold-yellow with a small white head and decent retention.
Citrus, orange and lemon dominate the nose, with almost no spice to be found.
A pretty typical taste; sweet malts and citrus, bread and a little wheat, but almsot no clove, vanilla or honey. Generally disapponting.
The feel was good, with medium carbonation and a slightly acrid taste which ended sweet and pretty smooth.
Overall this was pretty standard and unimpressive, but you can't swing a cat in Germany without hitting a Hefe; they can't all be fantastic.

D: Quite drinkable.

On tap at KClinger's.

This beer is served in a 22 ounce Hefe glass, and came with lemon which quickly found it's way out. A lively yellow brown color with ample but not overwhelming haze and a nice 1.5" of light white fluffy head with good retention. The smell is a nice yeasty boquet of corriander and clove, some sweet melon and other more citric scents (lemon, grapefruit). The taste is much of the same, very sweet and alive with a sharp spiciness in the finish and aftertaste; mostly hops and clove. Very strong bubblegum flavor; my girlfriend likened it to "Dubble Bubble" in the yellow wrapper. Almost cloying in its spicy finish, this was initally refreshing and delicious, and later, somewhat annoying. A very good summer beer, very much like Gumballhead if it were done overseas (not quite as clean with the hops). Still, a tasty beer.

Sort of a weird aftertaste but golden color, great smell, heavier than it looks. Great American Heffe.

The beer comes in a brown short-necked 50 cl. bottle with a rescrewable cork. The label is from a german alp-landscape. Looks kind of dull.

A: This beers pours cloudy pale orange with a large white airy head that dissipates slowly, leaving quite some lace.

S: Bready, malt with faint (!?) wheat. Some faint ripe bananas. Overall a rather weak smell. Some spices.

T: Wheat and malt, some ripe bananas together with spices. Some citric notes.

M: The aftertaste is rather short and dry. The body is thin to medium with lots and lots of carbonation, small bubbles.

D: A nice beer, but a little to less wheat to get a higher rating. If I'm just drinking it as any beer I would rate it higher, but since the style is Hefeweizen and the wheat only is in the back I can't rate it higher.
