One might mistake this for a cola bier, it’ so sweet. The nice coffee bitterness of, say, Kostritzer is missing. Nice fluffy head with sticky lacing, dark brown color, but almost no scent and taste is far too sweet, almost porterish.

From the screwtop half liter bottle, it pours a hazy brown with a small head, dissipating quickly to a thin cover. Some lacing. Roast malts in the nose. The mouth follows and enjoys every drop. Yum!

Pours cloudy brown color with 2 finger tall head. Medium retention. Smells dough, yeasts... Tastes roasted malts, bready finish. Perfect carbonation. Nice.

Tried today at the Cordenons Pumpkin festival in Italy. Good flavor and even the wife liked it. Bottle said 7%ABV though.

0,5 liter bottle bought on a recent short trip across the border to Germany.

Bigger head than the Keller-Hell, very creamy indeed. Dark brown beer smells of malt and candy caramel, lightly of grassy hop.
Taste is more bitterness. A pronounced roasty character from the malts. More bitter than sweet (contrary to the Keller-Hell).
Overall this is a more interesting brew. It's certainly wilder and more unbalanced, and the bitterness makes it something more special.
Not at all a bad choice if you want to try the style.

Appearance: Dark chestnut; big frothy head, long lasting

Aroma: Light malt, hops and spice; not much here

Taste: Creamy and malty on start; light hop bitterness moving through zippy and roasted grain; pretty well balanced, but a bit thin; stout-like

Remarks: Pretty smooth and good flavor overall

Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

500ml Bottle drank on 23 Feb 2013 in Berlin.

Grubby brown looking brew: not fully clear or clean looking. Off-white head that didn't hang around for a closer inspection.

Malty, dirty nose: not unpleasant, but not pleasant either.

The taste was also a dirty malt flavour with hints of hop bitterness towards the end of each gulp. Grainy and earthy feel from the start, different and worth finding: not great but certainly worthy of trying if you come across it in your travels.

This beer comes in a short-necked brown 50 cl. bottle with a rescrewable cap. The label's got a picture the brewery in the old days.

A: The pour is slightly murky redish brown with a medium large kind of airy/soapy head that dissipates pretty fast leaving some uneven lace.

S: Light roasted sweet caramell malt, bitter hops and an "off-smell" - like perfume or something.

T: A little less sweet, but still light roasted caramell malt - tastes better than it smells. Bitterhops are present. Some very faint citric notes and then there's some dark fruits as well.

M: Aftertaste is longlasting and holds a nice dry bitterness, the sweetness "dies" pretty quickly. The body is full and the carbonation is light. Kind of a rough mouthfeel.

D: Nice taste - tastes more than this brewery's other Keller Biers.
