This place is hard to rate. The quality of the stouts that I tried were very good. The beer list rotates over constantly, and they don’t typically bring beers back or have flagship beers. Lots of interesting adjunct-laden beers, IPAs, stouts, etc., but short on traditional European styles. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but just be aware before going that they call it “deviate” for a reason. The building is nothing special—there is plenty of space in a strip mall type building with black chalkboard and black brick walls, a wooden bar in the middle, high top tables, a couple tvs on the wall. No food, except some tasty popcorn, and I would guess they allow bring-your-own/order.

After visiting a couple of quite uninspiring spots in Indiana...this place restored my faith in humanity, especially the humanity of Indiana....Corner location mini call location, so decent amounts of available parking.

Stand alone mid sized rectangle of a building, with a us shaped bar in the middle and most of the patrons hanging out towards the rear...happy mess of a super cool, gettin down and relaxing, good time phunky kinda place, blues/metal and general music theme, friendly bartender...lots of emptiy bottles all over the place, free popcorn, a small and separate BBQ dealio for tasty chow...A lot goin on here! I got some tasty tacos a few super tasty Hazy IPA drafts and I was again happy to be in the state.

12 on tap, including a lot of NEIPA hazers, west coast IPA, pasty stouts and sours.....A fridge full of their quality beer in cans to take with you

My kind of place...I'd likely be a regular if I was local

Store front brewery on the north side of town with bar in the middle of taproom, service on one side, a few seats on the other. Also some tables on both sides of the bar. Place is a bit bare bones on the inside. 10 beers on tap, I tried the Hop Supremacy which was solid. Friendly bartender.

When passing through town we stopped here just to try their beers. The brewery is located on the corner of a busy intersection, and ample parking is available in front of the building. A few picnic tables are situated in the parking area. The taproom has low and high tables available, but no bar seating. (COVID?) Beer is ordered at the bar.

Ten beers were available plus two in cans for on-premises drinking. We ordered a sampler flight of 4 beers to try to get an overall evaluation of the brewery's line-up. Each was brewed well to style so that we gave an overall grade of a B. The ElectroHype Pear Sour was my favorite, and the Unconscious Knowledge Imperial Stout was also notable.

No food is prepared by the brewery, although there was a heated rack of pizzas from a vendor that were available by the slice. A BBQ food truck was also open for business in the parking lot. Cans and growlers are available for beer to go. The 4 beers that we had were good so that I'd make a return trip if ever in the area again to try some of their other selections.

Recently expanded, lots more space. Currently open for inside (with PLENTY of social distancing in place) and outside on the patio. Hands down in the Top5 best breweries in Indy with a large variety of styles year round from traditional to those that push the cuff (their motto IS "Deviate from the Norm"...). Always excellent service and the owners are cool cats! No in-house kitchen buth there's a Micky D's and a bangin' Thai Place right across the street and other local businesses will deliver to the brewery. Right off the interstate (probably the easiest brewery to get to in the city), lots of canned options so an easy choice if you are a local or just passing through.

A 20 minute Uber ride from my hotel, Deviate Brewing is located in a strip mall on the North West Side of Indy. The night I was there, they had a wide assortment of styles on tap and a cooler filled with bombers and 16 oz. crowlers to go. IPA's, Farmhouse Ales, Imperial Stouts, Sour IPA's, a Quad and a Brown Ale. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed the tunes as well. Dropped a C note before I left. Not sure why this place is under the radar. A must visit if you are in the area.

An adjunct-forward brewery doing unique things in a strip mall on the northwest corner of Indy. The service is always great and knowledgeable. I generally enjoy their beers but avoid the one's whose adjuncts I don't care to taste in beer and that usually serves me well. Not every beer is going to blow you away but you always get what they're going for. A great place for flights due to the variety and their ever-changing tap list.

Stopped by today while traveling through Indianapolis. Located in a tiny strip mall just minutes off from 465 makes it very convenient from the highway. Very small inside, low ceilings, long bench style tables with the brewing area directly off to the side. I had to laugh when we arrived, my 19 year old son couldn't come in but dogs were allowed. All good - I would definitely go back again when we're in the area. Check this place out.

Vibe- several tables, not terribly packed when I’ve been. Little music playing. Somewhat bright. Clean place. Good pours and good cleanup on overflow of glass and so forth. Service is alright. You want a beer, you go to the bar and get it. They can help make a good choice. Selection also alright. 10 of their own beers. Plenty of styles covered. Lots of adjunct combos. Had some okay tasting beer.

All about the beer here. Vibe is practically non existant, so if you go to a brewery for the vibe you'll hate this place. Its in a strip mall with drop ceilings and concrete floors.

BUT, the beer is awesome. They always have 8 very interesting taps.

Service is at the counter, but the people are always nice. Family run.

Folks around Indy highly recommended this place. Owner was friendly and provided good service, but the beers were nothing spectacular. Maybe it's the best of the local scene but i would consider it nothing more than good home brew. For my money I would just head to The Pint Room in Carmel for a far superior selection.

Great beer. They had about 8 beers on tap but they were all IPA's or stouts - which I loved but some of the folks with me were looking forward to trying some other styles.

The extraordinary thing about Deviate is that it has managed to improve from a rock solid start. The beers began as interesting, and many were quite tasty from the get go. But as the months have smoothed the edges off, this strip mall brewer is really hitting its stride. A neat, industrial vibe, with decent tunes and a couple TVs to watch the game, the list shifts almost weekly and is always exploring something new. Tipping toward the high ABV, these are big burly brews. I only hope they can brew enough for growler fills of more of their selections in the future.

Really love what Mike and Greg have done with Deviate. The quality of the beers is off the charts in my opinion. I think there are only 8 taps but with such great beers you don't really need more. Most trips I get at least one flight of four because their board turns over so quickly, there are always news beers on tap. Their "breakfast" style stouts with coffee, cinnamon, coconut, etc are sublime.

There is no food service, but you can order in from a number of local places that deliver to the location. I think you have to be a member of a club they offer in order to get growler fills which is a bummer for those of us who don't live close by.
