They had a pretty big selection but very little chilled. i like my beer cold at all times. The service was horrible. most of the workers looked like little 16 year old kids that barely speak english and no beer knowledge of any sort. A lot of good beers though. their prices were a bit pricey, with very little 6-packs under 10 dollars. and the ones that were, i would never drink. i wasnt too happy with the place but for those of you that are looking for a beer that you cant find anywhere, this might be the place you will find it.

All BevMo's in San Diego have a good selection as a whole, but some individual BevMo's have a fair number of beers unique to them. This always seems to be the case with Encinitas. The place is huge, and you can always find 5-6 beers here that are not at the other locations. Mostly Orange County products, Lagunitas, or Sierra Nevadas that I haven't seen at other places. Though I have never bought food at this location, the cheese and sausage selection looks good. The staff is friendly and knows their stock.

Like a beer heaven in there, almost. Though itd be better if they had more in the cooler (probably 80% of their stock is on shelves), and they dont let you break up six packs (which might've been a good thing, cause i might've gone broke).
Selection was probably one of the best i've ever seen, they even had it divided into countries from which the beers came from. The employees were always ready to help and even seemed to know what they were talking about.
Prices were a little steeper than holiday wine cellar though.
One issue though, i bought a sixer of victory prima pils, later came to find the freshness date was best before Jan. 6. 06! The beer still tasted good, never had it before, would really like to try a fresh one though.

Stopped by this store in north San Diego County as I was on the hunt for some Alaskan Smoked Porter. Unfortunately, that search continues as they were out. They do carry a number of Alaskan's regular offerings among a wide variety of West Coast beers. Some notables were Ballast Point, Alesmith, Bear Republic, Rogue, Deschutes, Marin, Stone, Green Flash, Sierra Nevada and a lot more. They also have a decent selection of imports from Germany and Belgium and the Pacific Rim.
Prices are pretty reasonable and the selection is large. The overall area set aside for beer is smaller than at the BevMo in Brea. The staff was helpful in aiding me in my search for the Alaskan Smoked Porter. However, you still cannot break up six-packs at BevMo, something I like to do when able.
Like xlperro stated in his review, BevMo is a good place to practice beeradvocacy. I got to talking with a woman and a staffer about what she should get for a group of guys who are "into beer", specifically dark beers. I recommended the Deschutes Obsidian Stout and some Stone Smoked Porter, which was seconded by the staffer. As for myself, I walked out with a sixer each of SN's Celebration Ale, Deschutes' Obsidian Stout and Quail Springs IPA.
BevMo is a great store with something in it for everyone. Macros, domestic craft brews, imports, wine, spirits, soft drinks, foods, glassware - it can be found there. A true adult beverage warehouse.

Stopped here whilst on my way north to the Pizza Port. This is a very large BevMo compared to the others I've seen. Bare concrete floors in a warehouse like building house a very good selection of quality beers. Most of the brews are stored warm on floor racks, but maybe 30% is in the glass-doored coolers. The servbice here is good with several folks trying to help with the selections. Good and plentiful parking in the large shopping center lot. Easy in and out entry to the lot. Nice stop in this area.
