Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of smooth black chocolate notes with some light barrel-again notes is quiet enticing. Taste is a mix of smooth roasted malt with nice creamy black chocolate notes with light barrel notes and no rough edges. Body is about average with great creamy texture and good carbonation. Incredibly smooth with great drinkability while retaining and excellent level of complexity.

creamy beige head capping a thick black body. Nose wafts cacao, with a woodiness and mild nonspecific spirit quality underneath, and quite well hopped. Taste is similar with more bookings than it should have for the abv, but a nice dry finish and linger of unsweetened cacao. Body I medium full, with ample carbonation, but a decent creamy feel.

From a 500ml bottle, dated 22-02-16 and 22-02-18, presumably the bottled on and enjoy by dates. Served in a tulip.

Guerilla SSS pours an unmitigated inky black with a magnificent three-finger dense, fluffy mocha crown. I actually floated the bottle cap on it, just to prove it would support it (it did, although eventually I had to fish the cap out with my fingers). Exceptional retention accompanied by epic sheets of sloppy, gobby lacing.

The smell is a complicated musk of bitter herbs and milk chocolate, old leather and an earthy funkiness - unusual and appealing.

Unexpectedly, the taste really does manage to fulfill the promise of the nose, immediately delivering an improbably complementary blend of sharp, bitter herbs and creamy, sweet milk chocolate-ly goodness. There is vanilla bean crush, dates and bitter orange peel, smokehouse nuts and a drawn-out, understated barrel-aged woodiness.

Mouthfeel is creamy but surprisingly light and clean with the alcohol nearly undetectable - in fact, what should, at 7.8% abv, have been a stately sipper disappeared with alarming rapidity.

An immensely enjoyable, smooth drinking RIS. I'm a sucker for a big stout but, even so, this one is highly recommended.

Opaque black color, nice construction yet little fast. Thick creamy light brown 3 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with moderate legs. Flavors of walnuts, cocoa, coffee, wood, earth, leather, dark fruits, grassy hops. Well balanced flavors, delicate and complex. Pleasant salivating sweetness with a dash of hoppy bitterness. Creamy and milky medium body with moderate carbonation, a little crispy. Medium strength finish, superb intensity, long lingering barrel aged feel of wood, with delicate hops, chocolate and fresh coffee. Feels more like a fresh porter than a typical bold Russian stout, and almost like a black IPA. Highly accessible, the alcohol very well hidden. Very fresh and tender, but lots of metal in the smell. Overall excellent quality craft. Highly recommended.

Pours a thick pitch black with a huge, billowy multi-shaded mocha head of three+ fluffy fingers. This slowly eases down a bit, but is like a rock for the most part. Sheets of doily-like lacing, very good retention. The aroma is a layered mixture of creamy nuttiness, roasty malt, vanilla and cocoa. The flavor is similar with a malty background with some light roast, baker's chocolate and some light barrel character. It has a thinnish body with light carbonation, an aromatic oak character, and some slight tannins.

Basically it breaks down as follows: Really great looking, pretty great smelling, great tasting, good feeling beer. Well worth my tracking down another bottle!
