Dark color with thick creamy tan head on top. Faint smell of roasted malt, caramel, and chocolate. Taste of caramel and cocoa the roasted malt and a hint of cherry. Really stays with you after the finish. This one sounded better on paper. I'm a fan of many of boulevard's offerings but this one was not very eventful.

A-Neat brown/black hue with a creamy head that sticks around.

S-Nothing extra special to detect. Smells like a dark beer. I may not have the experience to note if something more is going on here.

T-Slight bitter taste with 'dark' flavors.

F-Head sticks around, even on the swallow. It could almost be described as smooth, if the slight bitterness didn't stick around and remind you what you are drinking.

O-I am a huge fan of dark beers, and this one just doesn't stand out in any significant way. It's good, I would drink it, possibly order it if there wasn't much else around. But there is nothing special here, to me.

Pours a deep, dark brown with a goodly portion of tan foam sitting gently atop. Creamy (for a bottle) and slow to dissipate but no real lace left behind.
Smell is relatively faint, just a wee amount of roast malt, smoke and the faintest hint of whiskey.
Taste is much more pronounced with notes of heavily toasted mslt (without being ashy), some wood, earth, a hit of toffee. Balanced nicely.
Body is medium for the style, effervescence is restrained. Dry from the tongue through the finish, which is remarkably clean and not really a good thing in my book. Overall though, a good brew.

This is one of my favorite porters and one of my favorite beers from Boulevard. Has a very strong distinct porter smell. I love the appearance of the bottle. I prefer to drink mine in a pint glass to more enjoy the smell and the appearance. This is a beer that needs to be served close to ice cold temperature or everything I said positive about it fades greatly. This beer rivals the dark truth stout from Boulevard in overall quality.

Smells strongly of chocolate malt, but that doesn't translate to the palate. Finishes crisp and clean; a very fine porter.
