Review from 8/2010 notes. Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head and lacing. Porter aroma of roasted and dark malt. Light smoky and roasted malts, a hint of chocolate. Light to medium bodied. Nothing outstanding, but a solid low ABV porter.

A new (or at least newly noticed) addition to the Utah system, so I had to give it a try. 12 oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint.

Appearance: This one pours beautifully! Three fingers of billowing head sit on top of brown beer with ruby highlights as you hold it up to the light. Looks like there is a scoop of vanilla ice cream the way the head settled. Nice lacing.

Smell: Coffee, roasted malts, and some herbal earthy hops. To be honest, the smell is a little muted because of the large head.

Taste: The taste is quite good. Grainy roasted malts with a bit of coffee or slight cocoa flavor. Mild bitterness from the hops with some astringency from the roast.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is soft and plentiful wile the body is smooth. Plenty of flavor to coat the mouth.

Overall: I enjoyed this porter quite a lot and will get some more of it down the road.

Pours a dark dark brown with a thick and creamy tan head that's still has a pinky lingering halfway through. Mainly roasted grain on the nose; burnt coffee is a good description coming through as well. Lacing really hanging on 2/3 of the way through, and mouthfeel eases off as well as beer warms. Pronounced bitterness, especially in the aftertaste. Little to no hop aroma, little to no sweetness. I like a little more sweetness or hop aroma, but this would be killer with some KC style burnt ends!

Pours a dark-chocolate brown with a very thick light tan head that leaves heavy lacing. Smoky aroma has notes of licorice, molasses and coffee. Scrumptious flavor fills the mouth with quality coffee, molasses, chocolate and burnt hops notes plus a hint of licorice. Texture has decent body and plenty of fizz. Let it "bully" you.

Pours a medium to dark brown, has some lightness to it. The head is thick and fluffy, slightly off-brown, and looks like a toffee foam. As the head falls, the lacing looks great on the glass.

Upon pour, there's little smell, but as the beer warms, roasted malt scents chase the nose, followed by faint coffee notes.

Deep roasted barley malt, charcoal, burnt coffee; possibly bittersweet chocolate. More bitter coffee deep into the finish.

Very stout like. It's creamy and really coats your tongue. Only slightly sweet, which is why I think it's more like a stout. Very bitter finish with the hops, chocolate and coffee adding to the pucker.

I'd appreciate a bit more sweetness, but this was a good beer. Another point or two of ABV would be welcome too. But an easy beer to drink.
