To pay tribute to our new familial ties, brewmasters Steven Pauwels and Phil Leinhart chose to create a Saison, the traditional Belgian farmhouse ale. They began by brewing two separate batches of beer, both at Boulevard Brewing Company, each with a grain bill of pale malt, oats, rye, corn, and wheat, subtly spiced with coriander, grains of paradise, and dried peels of lemons and oranges. Perle was used as a bittering hop with Safir and Saaz added for aroma. Each of the two batches was fermented with the unique house yeast from our respective breweries. The batches were then blended post-fermentation, allowing both of the distinctive yeast signatures to manifest in the finished beer. The result is crisp and bready, with a bracing hoppiness and a hint of spice lingering in the background. Join us in raising a glass to family.

Cellared 2 yrs, 2 mos
Poured into a wine glass
Appearance: amber-golden with some haze. Not very impressive.
Aroma: malty sweet with fresh hay. Dry smelling with a light musk. Meh.
Flavor: sweet bready malt; definitely “farmhouse.” Bleh! Definitely not a repeat purchase.
Mouthfeel: heavy-medium. I don’t even want to finish this. A sluggish mess.
Overall: this is a truly underwhelming beer. Boulevard has a good record with saisons (Saison-Brett, Tank 7), but this is a miss. Boring! Nothing positive to remember and nothing seemed done well. This must be the Ommegang influence. I think Boulevard consistently makes excellent beer. This beer is not one of them. This is in the cellar of their portfolio.

Good solid beer that just lacked a bit more farmhouse spiciness for my taste. Very drinkable and balanced but sweeter in mouthfeel and would have liked for spice.

Look: It pours a cloudy goldish orange with an off white head that produce Belgian lace.
Aroma: It has a high fruity aroma from esters with a peppery, spicy smell. There are also some lemon aromas with citrus and a slight sourness to it. The malt aromas are very low but become low as the beer warms.
Taste: There are high fruit flavors with spices and peppers that also produces a slightly tart taste. There is a small hint of sourness. It is also moderately bitter with a high amount of carbonation.
Feel; It has a moderate feel on the light side and a dry finish.
Overall: It is a highly carbonate farmhouse ale with plenty of fruity esters and spices in a complex combination with the classic dry finish.

pours a murky orange amber with a huge head that poofs. nose; light yeast, fruitiness, & hops (very light nose). taste; belgian yeast, grassy hops, sweet pear, lemon, banana, & gum. medium+ carbonation & medium mouthfeel. a very clean tasting saison, with very little funk and not as spicy as most.

Said best by May 2015, but it has more than held up. Golden orange/brown colors, very healthy and persistent head and carbonation. Hits the right buttons when it comes to nose and taste-citrus and a robust funk in the right amounts. Only thing I feel it's missing is a bit of a zing on the back end. Otherwise, a very well done beer.

Received as a gift. Pours a rich amber color, slightly cloudy with a very tight 3 finger head and lasting lacing. Good carbonation. Fruity taste on the sweet side, but very enjoyable. Little if any hops bitterness.

A - Pours a clear amber with a large three-finger sturdy white head. The head lingers leaving tons of soapy lacing.
S - Aroma is strong Belgian yeast and light fruitiness.
T - The flavor is Belgian yeast, honey, apple, and pear. I pick the corriander and some white pepper in the finish.
M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with a dry finish.
O - Nice Saison. The flavors are on the sweet side and a little one-dimensional. Still very drinkable.
